Reviewing Trader Joe’s Chicken Quesadillas and Peanut Butter Cups, Gatsby Cookies Cream Bar, Perugina Cappucinno Bar, & More

Updated:

This snack review has Trader Joe’s Southwest Chicken Quesadillas and Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups, Gatsby Cookies and Cream Bar, Ritter Sport Coconut Filled Bar, and Perugina Cappuccino Milk Chocolate Bar. I didn’t have any favorites out of this bunch, although I am a little disappointed in the Trader Joe’s Chicken Quesadillas. Also, Ritter was also interesting as it didn’t really taste like coconut as advertised.

Trader Joe’s Southwest Style Chicken Quesadillas

Score: 5.5 / 10

Front of Trader Joe's Southwest Style Chicken Quesadillas box.

Very standard and typical southwest seasoning mixed in with some regular tasting meat and vegetables. It’s slightly spicy and mostly unoffending. Basically, this is what you’d find at some cheaper Tex-Mex restaurants that serve quesadillas, you need some sauces and stronger spices to really elevate this. Cooking was also bit awkward and uneven as the tortillas are thin and most of the contents are bulked in the center.

Released around November 2021.

Gatsby Cookies and Cream Milk Chocolate Bar

Score: 6.5 / 10

Front package of Gatsby Cookies and Cream Milk Chocolate bar.

This is just a fairly sweet, regular tasting cookies and cream bar. It isn’t as sweet as the well known Hershey version but it’s close. Texture is pretty standard with lots of embedded little chocolate cookie pieces giving it a slight crunch here and there.

Not sure when this company was founded or when this specific flavor came out, although reviews date back to 2022. Found at Ocean State Job Lot.

Trader Joe’s Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

Score: 7 / 10

Front package of Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

A semi-dark chocolate wraps a fairly sweet soft peanut butter inside. It’s not as sweet as candies like Reese’s although it’s still on the sweeter side. Overall, a mostly standard tasting peanut butter cup with chocolate on the darker side.

Likely released some time in 2021.

Ritter Sport Milk Chocolate with Coconut Filling Bar

Score: 6 / 10

Front package of Ritter Sport Milk Chocolate with Coconut Filling bar.

A soft and sweet bar overall as a thin milk chocolate wraps around a fairly large chunk of soft coconut-like filling inside. This “coconut filling” inside is hardly coconut tasting though and tastes mostly like fairly sweet sugar.

This company dates back to 1912, although I’m not sure when this specific variation was released, many reviews indicate it’s been around for at least several years. Found at Ocean State Job Lot.

Perugina Cappuccino Milk Chocolate Bar

Score: 7 / 10

Front of Perugina Cappuccino Milk Chocolate bar.

A slightly dark chocolate bar with a noticeable espresso / coffee flavor. Overall, it’s fairly sweet and neither the coffee nor the chocolate overpowers the other, it’s a nice combination. There are tiny bits of coffee embedded throughout giving it an occasional mini crunch.

Perugina has been around since 1907 although I’m not sure when this specific bar was released. Found at Ocean State Job Lot.
