Palmer Choco Fluff Marshmallow Filled Bunny

Score: 7.5 / 10

This is such a good Palmer candy, especially compared to the others. Its milk chocolate shell is tasty and thick, although it does have that artificial, cheap Palmer taste. However, the inside is pretty good, and that is what makes it! It’s like they mixed marshmallow fluff with a white ganache, making it pretty sweet, soft, and not too sticky like a regular marshmallow. This filling more or less holds its shape and is creamy enough to complement the chocolate.

Likely released in March 2025 for the Easter season. Found at Dollar Tree.

Nucita Chocolaty Covered Chocolate and Vanilla Marshmallow Bunnies

Score: 6 / 10 (for both)

A complete disappointment. They both taste nearly identical, even. The vanilla-based one is plain, almost unsweetened marshmallow, while the chocolate offers a smidge of milk chocolate added in. This inside “marshmallow” feels and tastes artificial, and annoyingly, the extremely super thin shell that coats it simply breaks apart and sticks to it. I’m not sure exactly how to describe this marshmallow filling, either–hollow? Fake? Cheap feeling? I did try to fix it by throwing it in the fridge, but it really didn’t change the texture or taste much at all… weird!

While I’m unsure of an exact release date, this is my first time seeing them, although other companies have made similar products. Found at Dollar Tree.

Sweetarts Jelly Beans

Score: 6 / 10

Compared to regular Jelly Beans, these are much different. The flavor is bolder and sweeter, and the texture is a little thicker but still remains soft and chewy. My favorite is how each color tastes a little different, albeit I can’t make out what each flavor is. They’re all a sort of artificial, sweet, fruity-like taste. Eating several different ones together yields a super fruity and sweet punch. Overall, get these if you want sweeter Jelly Beans, but definitely stay away if you like or want something lighter.

According to reviews, these have been out for some time, generally appearing during the Easter season. Found at Dollar Tree.

Tony’s Chocolonely Milk Chocolate S’mores Marshmallow Lil’ Bits

Score: 7.25 / 10

I’m not a huge fan of Tony’s chocolate too much because of how average it tastes, but these are much better! It’s sweet, milk chocolatey, and creamy. I noticed there’s a marshmallow-like center that resembles a soft, almost soft, stale cracker texture–it’s not bad, just not a gooey marshmallow. There’s also a super light, thin graham cracker crunch from the actual cracker part inside. Overall, these aren’t really s’mores and instead more resemble a creamy chocolate taste. So, while the soft texture of these bits turns out kind of janky, it’s not bad overall, and the sweet, creamy chocolate flavor is great!

Released January 2024 alongside other flavors. Found at Ocean State Job Lot.

Hostess Cupcakes Frosted Sugar Cookie Cake

Score: 7.5 / 10

Vanilla and sugar cookies, in a way, have more or less the same flavor profile, right? With that, these cupcakes here definitely feel like the Hostess vanilla-based cupcake versions. In fact, when I compared the two, I couldn’t really find any real differences. They’re reasonably sweet, creamy, and have a sugary vanilla taste. That’s really it.

Lastly, these are great chilled or frozen. They retain the same flavor and become more dense.

Released March 2025. Found at Walmart.

Hostess Cupcakes Minis

Score: 7.5 / 10

As advertised, these are about identical to their bigger cousins. The only difference I noticed was that the frosting extends down more, from the top to nearly the bottom on some sides. Also, they’re definitely more crumbly despite having the same texture. Perhaps it’s because they’re smaller? Either way, they’re nearly bite-sized and come in packs of two minis. In the end, personally, I definitely prefer the more fulfilling, less crumbly regular big brother versions.

Released March 3, 2025. Found at Walmart.

Swerve Confetti Cookie Mix

Score: 5.5 / 10

I replaced the butter with almost an exact 1:1 ratio of apple sauce, adding slightly more. They came out soft and fluffy, like a cake. They nearly fit an 8×8-inch pan.

Unfortunately, there isn’t much flavor to these. While they seem to resemble a vanilla-like cake, it’s bland. At best, it’s semi-sweet; that’s it. The confetti inside adds nothing aside from color. With that, I strongly suggest adding a topping of sorts.

I’m unsure of an exact release date.

Sprinkles Cupcake Cups Birthday Cake and Red Velvet

Scores: 7.25 (for both)

These little bags come with Reese’s shaped cups that are individually wrapped.

Birthday Cake: Soft, creamy, and easy to bite through. There are also little crunchy sprinkles on top, which add to the composition of the texture. Flavor-wise, it’s vanilla, not necessarily birthday cake. That’s really it: decently sweet vanilla cups.

Red Velvet: Biting in, I notice there’s not nearly as much creme as shown on the package. Instead, the shell is a little thicker, and the white creme inside is smaller, kind of like a Reese’s (to note, it is not nearly as sweet!). The flavor of the shell is a light red velvet-like chocolate, but it doesn’t exactly nail it. Similarly, the inside creme tries to be cream cheese; however, it instead resembles a moderately sweet creme with vanilla tones.

When frozen, unlike their Reese’s counterpart, they get hard and crunchy, so I’d avoid doing this!

Released May 12, 2024.. There is also a Double Chocolate flavor. Found it at Walmart.

Cadbury Creme Egg

Score: 8 / 10

First, you’re hit with a sweet milk chocolate from the semi-thick shell, followed by a slap in the face of pure creamy, gooey sugar filling. This white and orange filling is what makes the creme eggs, well, creme eggs! It’s super duper soft, gooey, and honestly, it has to be made from pure sugar because of how sweet it is! Honestly, I can’t even discern the flavor–a hint of vanilla with a truckload of sugar, perhaps? Anyway, coupled with the chocolate shell, the taste and texture, despite being artificial as all heck, are a wonderfully indulgent sweet packaged combo.

When chilled, the shell gets somewhat pleasantly crunchy, and the goo on the inside turns into a dense but still very soft ganache. Weirdly, it doesn’t feel as sweet for whatever reason, too. Honestly, I feel like I lean towards this version more!

Released in 1963. Other versions contain chocolate or caramel fillings.

Rice Krispies Treats Bliss Caramel and Chocolate Sea Salt Pretzel

Scores
Chocolate: 7.25 / 10
Caramel: 7.5 / 10

Both are very similar and resemble a premium Rice Krispies Treat. What both have in common is the pretzel pieces layered on top. These add a lightly crunchy and salty pretzel taste that isn’t overbearing whatsoever, which I appreciate because I’m not a fan of pretzels myself!

Chocolate: A light coating of dark chocolate on the bottom and embedded square bits on top add a nice, semi-sweet, and noticeable touch to the Treat. It’s actually kind of crazy how much dark chocolate you get from seemingly so little, maybe because of how sweet it all is together. I especially appreciate how this dark chocolate isn’t bitter or artificial tasting, either. Combined with the rest of the Treat, it’s very tasty!

Caramel: Sweeter than the chocolate version, these instead have a pleasantly sweet caramel taste from the small layer at the bottom and caramel bits on top. It complements the pretzel and Treats well, and personally, I slightly prefer these over the chocolate ones. The only downside is that these come across as slightly more artificial due to the caramel flavoring and sweetness, but I don’t care as I find it still really good and not at all off-putting!

Both were released in late March 2025.

Walmart Bettergoods Sour Straws with Creamy Strawberry-Yuzu and Mango Filling, and Straws with Raspberry-Apricot and Tropical Guava Filling

Scores
Raspberry-Apricot and Tropical Guava: 5.25 / 10
Strawberry-Yuzu and Mango: 5.75 / 10

Notably, despite both of these packages containing different colored straws, they all taste the same with respect to their flavor. This means all the straws inside either of these taste identical.

Raspberry-Apricot and Tropical Guava: I can’t tell if I like these or not. Compared to other filled straws you can find on the market, these are very different. It almost feels less artificial and is actually made with more fruit. This results in a harder and stiffer texture, making them a bit annoying to bite through. The flavor is light and feels authentic, although I can’t make out what it is: apricot and some fruit, perhaps? It’s also not artificial tasting, which is great; it’s just really light, and the flavors aren’t too bold. What bothers me is that the thin inside filling isn’t noticeable and doesn’t add anything, as it’s the same texture as the straw itself! Overall, they’re enjoyable if you want an unoffending snack in terms of flavor, although they don’t offer much more.

Strawberry-Yuzu and Mango: Coated with an unhealthy amount of sour-sugary crystals–and indeed, they’re pretty sour! The texture, like the other ones, is soft-hard, although they are easier to bite through as they’re less chewy for some reason. They’re also a bit sweeter, and in addition to being sour, I find they taste better, have a bolder taste, and a slightly better texture. Aside from the sweet and sour flavor itself, it is a light strawberry and mango flavor, but it would be hard to discern without having read the package.

While I’m not sure of an exact release date for these, they may have come out alongside other Bettergoods products on April 30, 2024. Found at Walmart.

Super Bakery Super Slice Banana Bread

Score: 7.5 / 10

It’s pretty darn tasty for a slice of banana bread. Granted, it’s definitely not premium tasting or feeling; in fact, compared to others, it’s fairly flat, specifically in terms of the texture. The texture is like 90% banana bread combined with a regular piece of bread, then heavily processed. It’s still reasonably dense and slightly moist, but something about it gives it a “bready” feeling. I also can’t get over how “perfect” it looks and tastes, which gives me artificial vibes. For the taste, it’s plain banana bread, although compared to others, it’s not as nuanced or flavorful. Overall, this is good, but clearly artificial all around.

I’m unsure of a release date for these.
