Reviewing Strawberry Swiss Rolls, Peanut Butter Creme Pies, Niagara Maple Cups, & More

This snack review has Niagara Chocolates Maple Cream Dark Cups, Little Debbie Strawberry Swiss Rolls and Peanut Butter Creme Pies, Walmart Bakery White Candy Macadamia Nut Cookies, and Reese’s Crunchy Snack Cake.

Most of these were pretty decent, though, there was a standout: the Little Debbie Peanut Butter Creme Pies. It’s pretty rare I give out a rating above an 8 but this was an exception. It really does feel like the Creme Pie product line in general are full of some of the best snacks around. Aside from that, Walmart’s bakery foods are usually pretty good and honestly, their Macadamia Nut Cookies were probably their worst item I’ve ever had! Seriously, talk about false advertisement!

Niagara Chocolates Maple Cream Dark Cups

Score: 6.5 / 10

The chocolate shell around these are dark and incredibly thick. It provides a nice chocolate crunch but it does fall apart after the first bite. The filling looks like gooey caramel and it tastes like moderately sweet sugar with only a tad of maple, so it’s a bit misleading.

Likely released around late summer 2022 for the fall season. These returned in 2023 around the same time. Notably, Niagara Chocolates has been around since the 1950s but recently has had to start closing its doors mid 2023. Found at Stop & Shop.

Little Debbie Strawberry Swiss Rolls

Score: 7 / 10

Honestly, there isn’t a huge difference between these Strawberry flavored Swiss Rolls and regular ones. The only difference is the creme, of which this is colored light pink, and like the color, the flavor is light strawberry combined with the traditional creme taste. Aside from that, it’s the typical fairly sweet and soft chocolate Swiss Roll. I kinda prefer the OGs.

Released around March 2023. Found at Walmart.

Most Little Debbie snacks aren’t that big but these are so large and thick! Two chunky cookies envelope a decent layer of soft creamy peanut butter. Both of the cookies and the filling taste the same, a fairly sweet peanut butter. I don’t think the peanut butter is as sweet as a Reese’s for example but it comes close. The entire cookie sandwich is additionally soft and pretty easy to chew through. Such a treat for those of us who love peanut butter!

Released in 2014. Found at Walmart.

Walmart Bakery White Candy Macadamia Nut Cookies

Score: 5.5 / 10

Walmart Bakery foods are usually pretty decent, what happened here? Despite looking and their name sounding amazing, these were bland! The texture was on the drier side but not crumbly, and the bits of nuts and “candy” were flavorless but added a small addition to the composition at least. Overall, it was semi-sweet with no real discernable flavor. Why have “candy” in your name if it isn’t at all sweet?

Not sure when the Walmart Bakery started producing these.

Reese’s Crunchy Snack Cake

Score: 7 / 10

Front package of Reese's Crunchy Snack Cake.

More stiff than I thought! The thin chocolate shell is a bit hard but when you break through, the inside is a lot softer. This inside is made up of a super thin peanut butter with bits of crunchy peanuts. The other layer is a soft-solid chocolate cake that feels like a mix of a brownie and cake. Together, this really does taste like a sweet Reese’s flavored piece of cake. Especially love the combination of textures.

Released some time around mid 2021. Found at Speedway gas station.
