Lemonhead Ropes
Score: 5.75 / 10

The first thing I noticed was that these ropes are chewy and a little harder than other candy-based ropes I’ve found, which, personally, is a big downgrade. The center filling is on the thinner side and, interestingly, has the same texture as the rope shell, reducing its softness and creaminess. Still, it has a flavor that’s both punchy and lemony. It feels like a lightly sour, authentic lemonade with a decent amount of sugar added in. So, basically, if you’re into a reasonably punchy lemon, you’ll love this, although the texture is a bit disappointing.
Released around November 2024. Found on Amazon.
Walmart Marketside Strawberry Cake
Score: 6.5 / 10

Overall, it’s decently creamy, soft, fluffy, and a little moist, like a good boxed cake mix. There’s a distinct, creamy strawberry taste that comes across as lightly sweet throughout.
However, what makes this cake is the drizzle. This thin layer of drizzle that is layered on top, the side, and the center is absolutely wonderful! It provides it with a ton of moisture, making it denser, as well as providing a sweet hit of well-needed sugar. However, it’s only the surface level, leaving the rest of the cake pretty tame and a bit boring. Essentially, this is a decent cake that desperately needs more of that sugary-sweet drizzle, but aside from that, it has a decent, pleasant, and well-balanced creamy strawberry flavor throughout.
I’m not sure of a release date for this. Found at Walmart.
Almond Joy
Score: 8 / 10

One of my favorite candies! It’s fairly sweet and has a noticeable milk chocolate and super creamy, moist coconut taste. Additionally, it has a large almond on top, which adds a light, nutty touch and a light crunch to the soft, dense, moist, chewy texture of the inner coconut filling. I also love these chilled and frozen! These remind me of coconut haystacks, one of my other favorite candy “bakes,” so basically, if you’re into coconut and chocolate, this is absolutely for you!
Released in 1946.
Hostess Orange Creme Pop Cupcakes
Score: 8 / 10

As advertised, these taste like authentic orange creme pops. Also, they remind me a bit of the Orange flavored cupcakes, although these are more creamy, a little less sweet, and have more clear vanilla alongside them. Overall, these aren’t as sweet as most of the other Hostess cupcake flavors, although it still packs a sweet punch. Really, I love how accurate the flavor is!
Lastly, these are much better chilled as they feel denser and stiffer (this doesn’t detract too much, but it is noticeable!), and the temperature compliments the flavor extremely well. It also seems to bring out the flavor and sweetness more!
While I’m not sure of an exact release date, they have come out in previous years for a limited time, likely for the spring season. Found at Walmart.
Hershey’s Caramel Filled Milk Chocolate Bars
Score: 7.5 / 10

These remind me so much of Gheradelli caramel squares! However, these are a little different: thicker chocolate shell, a Hershey chocolate taste, and the inside filling is somewhat less sweet. Still, the caramel filling is still fairly sweet despite being on the thinner side; it’s also super gooey and sticky. Biting in, the chocolate shell breaks apart, and the sticky caramel starts emptying out, so get some napkins!
I’m not sure of a release date, although they’ve been around on and off for some time. These are my first time seeing these. Found at Walmart.
Herbert’s Best Planet Gummi
Score: 3 / 10

Oh boy, that texture is nasty! The blue outside shell mimics that of a slimy, hard-boiled egg, which encases a sweet, gooey, artificial, fruity jam substance. The shell is quite thick, and since it so weirdly resembles a hard-boiled egg, I just can’t get through much of it. This shell is plain; the filling has all the flavor: sweet, artificial, fruity jelly.
While I can’t find an exact release date, reviews date back to around 2024. Found at Five Below.
Niederegger Dark Chocolate Orange Marzipan Bar
Score: 7.25 / 10

This is a hunky bar; well, it looks like it, at least, as the inner marzipan doesn’t feel quite as thick as others I’ve had. Further, the dark chocolate shell is thin and breaks apart right after biting in. In reality, the dark chocolate is barely noticeable, with most of the flavor from the filling that tastes like a lightly sweet and almondy orange. My suggestion would be to add some chocolate in the center or make the shell thicker and make the marzipan a little more thick and chewy. Still, it’s not bad; it’s just not the best marzipan candy I’ve had.
I’m not sure when this was released. Found at Ocean State Job Lot.
Skawa Basniowe Pierniczki Chocolate Covered Gingerbread with Apple Filling
Score: 7.5 / 10

Soft and slightly chewy, these sport a dark chocolate with a moderately sweet fruity filling. I especially like gingerbread, which seems to cover the inner filling. It’s soft, pretty sweet, and compliments the dark chocolate and apple filling well. The flavors here are pretty nuanced, but they work well. Essentially, if you want a nicely sweet, unique, and refreshing soft cookie, this is definitely for you! My only gripe is that the filling is a bit thin, although it’s still noticeable because of how sweet it is!
I’m not sure when this was released. Found at Ocean State Job Lot.
E. Wedel Milk Chocolate Strawberry Bar
Score: 7.25 / 10

A pleasantly sweet, milk chocolate shell houses a much sweeter, creamy strawberry soft-solid, almost gooey filling. It does pack a sweet punch overall, with a bold, candy-tasting strawberry flavor from the center. The big takeaway is that the creamy strawberry is definitely bolder and stronger than the chocolate, making it take the front seat in the flavor profile.
While I’m not sure of an exact release date, reviews date back to around 2018. Found at Ocean State Job Lot.
