Reviewing Drizzilicious Mini Rice Cakes

These smell like a very strong, sweet, lemony pie — perhaps one of the strongest Drizzilicious treats I’ve come across. They’re curry yellow colored and have a yellow drizzle that blends in.

The taste, unfortunately, isn’t as strong as the smell; it’s a mildly to moderately sweet, lemony flavor, with the rice as the dominant note. Nothing really all that punchy and overall, more bland than I’d thought it would be. Pretty boring, though, if you aren’t into stronger lemon flavors, you may enjoy this.

Well, it certainly smells like a mix of apple, cinnamon, and a smidge of dough–accurate to an apple pie. They’re light brown, with a little white drizzle on top of each one.

Taste-wise, it’s a moderately sweet apple pie flavor, fully authentic and quite forward with its flavor profile. The background of rice-like flavor is barely noticeable and only adds to the overall apple pie flavor. Overall, it’s very accurate to what it’s trying to portray in rice cake form!

Opening these up, there is an immediate sweet smell of a combined rice, strawberry, and chocolate. They even look pretty, sporting a darker chocolate drizzle and a few red specks on each rice cake.

Unfortunately, they aren’t as sweet as they look. Sure, there is a distinct strawberry chocolate flavor, but it isn’t pronounced enough to really stand out. Is it better than some of the other flavors here? Yes, it comes across as a tad sweeter, still not enough to break into the higher tier of snacks, however.

These give off an almost complete semi-sweet rice cake aroma, with just a hint of caramel. And, funnily enough, I actually thought these didn’t even have drizzle until I inspected more closely, where I noticed the drizzle was the exact same color as the rice cake itself!

Anyway, just like its smell, the flavor is mostly rice cake, with a suggestion of salted caramel. If only these were sweeter to bring out that salted caramel, because as it is now, it could be that the salt part is making it a little less sweet than many of the other drizzlcious flavors — I’m not sure. Either way, it’s a smooth flavor, not the sharp or unpleasant taste that can come with salty-flavored snacks.

Initially, they smelled like sweet gingerbread. Then, biting in, I love how it almost feels like I’m eating a gingerbread house! Well, not quite as sweet! It has the exact flavor profile: creamy and milky, with a sweet, not-at-all-bitter gingerbread taste and a hint of cinnamon. The rice part tones it down, though —you don’t get any rice flavoring from this. Really, I swear, part of the taste was even lightly buttery, like graham, too.

Lastly, the texture was pretty typical, though it seemed to have a smidge more drizzle than others on this list, which added a nice, soft, moist mouthfeel (and sweetness) to the already pleasantly light crunch.

First, don’t worry, the peppermint here isn’t at all sharp, tamed by the light drizzle, which provides some mild sweetness. Honestly, the flavors could have been stronger, but for the most part, it’s inoffensive and pleasant for a pepperminty treat. I also like how it differs from many other peppermint-based foods, since they usually have chocolate, but this was more of a combination of mild rice and creaminess, which was different!

Pumpkin spice is a hit, literally. It has an authentic pumpkin spice taste, toned down by the rice cake itself, yet it still hits you with an occasional sharp pumpkin spice note. Out of the many drizzlious flavors, these feel more unique for their boldness, for better or worse. Don’t get me wrong, though, they’re absolutely still not as hard-hitting as regular pumpkin spice treats; they instead come across as more of a pleasant pumpkin spice flavor.

Cookies and cream? Definitely not, as this is mostly just the cookies part. They’re mildly sweet, with a light dark chocolate with no real discernible “cream” taste despite the drizzle. In fact, the drizzle really doesn’t do anything. It still all comes out as basically a generic chocolate cookie flavor with a light rice undertone. They’re not bad, I just think they’re mislabeled.

With an underlying crisp rice taste and a semi-sweet berry note, it reminds me of the Berry Pebbles cereal, though, of course, less sweet. They aren’t super sugary by any means, but they are sweeter than most of the others on this list. It’s more or less a generic berry taste, not artificial, though notably, with an occasional strong hit of some type of strong-flavored authentic berry, as if it had a few bits of concentrated berries inside it. If you want one of the sweeter Drizzilicious flavors, this is one to try!

Not many snacks get birthday cake flavoring right, but this does. It’s authentically birthday cake, like a mix of vanilla and cake frosting. It comes in at a moderately sweet level, and the drizzled swirl adds a touch more sweetness and texture when biting in. However, despite being pretty sweet for a rice cake, I do wish it were just a little sweeter to really fulfill the birthday cake flavor fantasy. So, overall, it’s good and especially sweet for a rice cake; I just want something more—perhaps I’m nitpicking!

I immediately smell milk chocolate, and biting in, I get just that (and, of course, some rice cake flavoring). It’s decently sweet, and the chocolate is slightly on the darker side without being bitter at all. This treat, however, is supposed to be s’mores, not just chocolate, and unfortunately, I’m not sure if I taste much, if any, marshmallow. Also, where is the graham cracker? Overall, they are chocolate-drizzled mini rice cakes, not much else!

For the most part, it’s a semi-dark chocolate-drizzled, moderately sweet rice cake. That’s it, really.

Opening this up, I get a whiff of sugary sweet cinnamon. And biting in, it’s just that. For a rice cake, this packs a noticeable, bold, sugary cinnamon taste that comes across as moderately sweet and leans towards its cinnamony side. It kind of reminds me of Cinnamon Toast Crunch with more of a focus on cinnamon and a smidge less sweet. The swirls of drizzle add a nice touch to the sweetness. Definitely one of the better, more flavorful Drizzilicious flavors!

Likely the strongest-smelling one and the least flavorful. Opening this bag releases a very strong scent of French toast. However, the flavor is light, especially compared to the other flavors on this list.

It has a light, cinnamon-and-buttery, doughy taste, and while it isn’t as sweet as I like, if you think about it, French toast isn’t too sweet either. So, in a way, I guess it’s true to its advertised flavor, and with that, I’d simply prefer something a little sweeter.
