Review
These are by far some of the thickest and largest protein bars I have ever seen or experienced. Lengthwise, they’re the size of a regular quest bar, but they are extremely tall as well, making them absolute giants. They are hunky, to say the least.
Three total flavors were introduced in March 2026: Salted Caramel, Brownie a la Mode, and Cinnamon Brown Sugar. I found these at Stop & Shop in late April 2026.
They consist of a thin shell with an equally thin drizzle, that couples around the filling—and to note, this filling does have several layers, as advertised. At the very top of a thin layer of goo with a thick caramel consistency, followed by a soft-solid, fairly large slice of what looks to be solidified ganache, and below that, the bulk of the bar, a crispy rice-based filling.
Overall, I’m disappointed. Despite all these layers, sure, it does feel very chunky and is reminiscent of those hefty and bulky meal-based bars, but these bars are surprisingly uniform. I expected the layers to contribute more and add nuance, yet all I got was a dense, lightly chewy bar that was mildly soft and thick. Essentially, there’s nothing to write home about these despite their looks. I would have liked a thicker gooey layer and for that ganache-like feeling to be even softer.
I can’t say I would go out of my way to buy these just for the filling or proposed Stacks-like experience, and I definitely might even avoid them if I were looking for a more tasty protein bar. Simply put, the mouthfeel is pretty good compared to your average bar, though not the best, and the taste, unfortunately, wasn’t that great. Personally, I prefer the OG Quest bars because they’re much more flavorful—at least, most of them.
Salted Caramel
When biting into this, I thought something was off. Chowing through it, yeah, wow, I didn’t expect the salty flavor to come through so much; in fact, it detracts from the entire experience. It makes the whole bar feel a bit harsh and further drowns out the caramel and sweetness more than it should. Frankly, it’s just an odd-tasting flavor, and I’m not sure if that’s also because there’s a protein bar-like taste too—just some combination of ingredients with the salt really brings this down. That aside, it’s reasonably sweet overall, about average for a typical protein bar.
Lastly, the layers didn’t seem to add much to the flavor or texture. The crispy part was mildly sugary-sweet with no distinct flavor, and both the caramel goo and the white solidified part and shell combined to create a uniformly salty-ish experience as described above.
Brownie a la Mode
This flavor is, more or less, your generic chocolate bar. I did get some hints of a darker chocolate, but for the most part, it’s a mild to moderately sweet milk chocolate bar with no noticeable artificialness. The crispies and other layers don’t add enough variety in flavor, unfortunately. In fact, if you blindfolded me, I would have thought it could be almost any generic chocolate bar. Granted, the layers were a decent enough touch, and the lack of any odd protein or weird flavor was a bonus.
