Cocoa Puffs
A chocolate cereal that other chocolate cereals often strive to be, although slightly more dark chocolate flavored than its competitors. They remain crunchy in milk and can hurt your mouth. They’re pretty decent dry and the cereal milk is a lightly sweet chocolate flavor.
ICEE Cereal
Smells super strongly like an Icee! It’s fairly crunchy and dry, tastes is a semi-sweet mixed berry corn taste, it’s pretty good even without milk. In milk, the taste is elevated and the milk feels “colder” (is that the cooling effect it advertises?). In this milk, it gets softer and feels more sweet, but still not overly so or as sweet as like Fruity Pebbles or the sweeter cereals, and I can almost picture myself “eating” an Icee. Cereal milk is kind of plain and doesn’t take much from the cereal.
If anything, they could improve this by making it even sweeter and focusing on either the red or blue Icee flavors instead of mixing them. Also, a way to lower the corn taste (which still isn’t all that much anyway). in milk softens up a bit and eventually gets a little soggy. Cereal milk is kind of plain.
Released April 2023, not sure if limited edition.
Snoop Cereal Fruity Hoopz with Marshmallows
Taste is similar to regular Froot Loops but a little more sweeter and has less of a lemony taste and more so a traditional cereal fruity one. The extra sweetness likely due to the large amount of marshmallows which seem to be even more than Froot Loops With Marshmallows. Texture and cereal milk is the same as Froot Loops, fairly plain cereal milk and gets a bit soft in milk over time.
Snoop Dogg and Master P released this cereal alongside Frosted Drizzlers and Cinnamon Toasteez summer 2023. Initially released on Amazon and then in stores some time later.
Reese’s Puffs Peanut Butter Lovers
The factory forgot to add the chocolate Reese’s Puffs’ balls to this cereal. This cereal consists of entirely the peanuty balls from the original Reese’s Puffs, making it super peanut buttery.
Released January 2024 alongside several other new General Mills cereals.
Krave Double Chocolate Brownie Batter
Special K Strawberry Cheesecake
Smells and tasted a lot like a light sweet strawberry cheesecake as advertised! Has the standard crunchy special k texture that softens slightly in milk. It’s not overly sweet, it’s just a late strawberry cheesecake taste that’s really pleasant and not over the top. Cereal milk is strawberry cheesecake’ish and turns milk light pink.
Released June 2023.
Dunkin’ Caramel Macchiato
Sweet mocha, caramel coffee taste when dry. In milk, the taste becomes more like an off-tasting caramel coffee and loses a tad of its sweetness. Marshmallows are slightly softer than most other cereal marshmallows. Good dry, and decent in milk.
Great Value Caramel Apple
Opening this up, the smell is a sweet candy caramel apple. Eaten dry, these round pieces of cereal are a little small, smaller than Cap’n Crunch Berries for example, and are crunchy but not rough. They have a fairly sweet caramel apple taste dry and in milk, the taste remains mostly the same while the texture starts to soften.
Walmart released this limited edition cereal around September 2023 along with two other flavors including Kettle Corn and Chocolate Mint.
Peanut Butter Chex
Standard Chex texture but with a fairly sweet, strong peanut butter taste. Milk isn’t too peanuty though. Great dry or in milk.
Catalina Crunch – Cinnamon Toast
More cinnamon than sweet. Nothing like the sweetness of cereal like Cinnamon Toast Crunch, and the cinnamon itself tastes different. Texture is crunchy and remains remains crunchy in milk. Cereal milk is kind of plain. Lightly sweet, cinnamony cereal overall.
Catalina Crunch started in 2017 with various cereals, not sure when this specific one was released.
Kashi Chocolate Waffle Bites
Despite having a roughish and crunchy texture, these are thick and have a bold, fairly sweet dark chocolate taste. Surprisingly, this chocolatey taste isn’t artificial or taste “off” compared to some other chocolate based cereals. In milk, for the most part, the texture and flavors remain the same, though, the milk does absorb some of the chocolate.
Released January 2023.
Lucky Charms S’mores
Unlike the other s’mores based cereal, this needed a lot more sweetness. The crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate were all fairly bland. Starts to soften in milk, although even the leftover chocolate cereal milk is plain. Overall, while it does need a lot more sugar and flavor, it’s still a reasonably enjoyable cereal given the different tastes and textures that resemble s’mores.
Chocolatey Chocolate Lucky Charms
When I opened the bag, I expected a chocolate smell but these had nothing! The flavor, interestingly, is absolutely there. Eating them dry is a treat given it’s semi-dark, pleasantly sweet taste coupled with the marshmallows. In milk, it’s even better as it starts to soften and the chocolate and marshmallow pieces come together even more. Even the milk has a light chocolate taste without taking any flavor away from the cereal itself! My only complaint is that the chocolate is different than most other chocolate cereals I’ve had. It’s not bad, just different.
Released April 2024.
Great Value Chocolate Mint
Without milk, these both smell and taste just like a chocolate milk candy although somewhat less sweet and a little less bold. The texture reminds me of Oreo O’s as they are crunchy and a bit gritty from the outside sprinkles. In milk, it softens a little bit although the flavor and sweetness does get lost in the milk. Overall, I like these better dry.
Walmart released this limited edition cereal around September 2023 along with two other flavors including Kettle Corn and Caramel Apple.
Catalina Crunch – Dark Chocolate
Very dark, bold flavor, not at all sweet. Fairly crunchy dry and has the same crunchiness in milk. Cereal milk is plain.
Catalina Crunch started in 2017 with various flavors, not sure when this specific one was released.
Seven Sundays Grain Free Sunflower Cereal, Real Cocoa
Overall, a semi-sweet, on the darker side of chocolate cereal. What’s interesting is that while a lot of cereals are corn or wheat based that you often taste, these taste almost more neutral and slightly different. Texture is crunchy but not rough dry, and each piece is thick and not puffy. In milk, it softens just slightly and loses a good part of its flavor to the milk itself.
Seven Sundays started in 2011, not sure when this cereal was released.
Magic Spoon – Frosted
Fairly sweet, vanilla taste. Nothing off-putting or odd tasting. Texture is good, it’s also crunchy and not airy, not as gritty as Cheerios or Froot Loops. Stays fairly crunchy in milk.
Magic Spoon launched in 2019 with a variety of cereals.
Sugar Cookie Toast Crunch
Had a vanilla-like taste but not as sweet as the original nor the cinnamon. Not as sweet as the sweeter cereals but sweeter than cheap vanilla cereals.
Cap’n Crunch
Fairly sweet, not a crazy amount of flavor, mostly sugary corn. These are much better when they’re complimented by their Berries!
Cap’n Crunch’s Cinnamon Crunch
There isn’t anything special about this. It’s nothing like Cinnamon Toast Crunch or other super sweet cinnamon cereals. This is simply Cap’n Crunch with a decent amount of cinnamon mixed in. It’s a nice touch overall. In milk, it doesn’t really lose much flavor and the milk becomes slightly cinnamony.
Released alongside a Sea Berry flavor December 2023.
Hot Wheels
The taste is a lot like lucky charms, a vanilla, corn-like taste, although it’s a lot sweeter and the texture is different. The texture itself is fairly crunchy and softens up a bit in milk but doesn’t get overly soggy. The cereal milk is decent. Lastly, there’s plenty of marshmallows which really compliment it all.
Released January 2023 alongside Lucky Charms S’mores.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer Hot Cocoa
Tasted like a regular chocolate cereal. The flavor itself was in the middle, could have been better, but it wasn’t terrible. Stayed semi-crunchy in milk. Marshmallows were standard cereal ones.
Rice Krispies
The classic Rice Krispies are decent. They’re semi-sweet but don’t have any flavor necessarily. Their other flavored counterparts are much better. They do make wonderful treats though!
Magic Spoon – Chocolate
Tastes like an off dark chocolate, it wasn’t bad though. Milk was chocolatey but also had that off taste. Stays crunchy in milk
Magic Spoon launched in 2019 with a variety of cereals.
Cap’n Crunch’s Chocolate Caramel Crunch
Instead of the fruity Berries, you get chocolate and caramel. It’s a fairly nice mix, neither overpowers the other, although the caramel does taste a bit “off.”
Cinnamon French Toast Frosted Flakes
Less sweet than regular Frosted Flakes, it has a very light cinnamon flavor which is not as sweet or strong as Cinnamon Toast Crunch. No maple or syrup flavor like French Toast Crunch.
French Toast Crunch
Not nearly as sweet as Cinnamon Toast Crunch and tastes a lot different. Very light cinnamon and sugar taste with a syrupy background. The texture doesn’t get as soft as CTC in milk and stays fairly crunchy.
Released in 1990s, discontinued in 2006, rereleased December 2014.
Raisin Bran
The flakes are more bitter, almost a “natural” flavor than other flakey cereal and combined with the raisins, it makes an interesting and fairly sweet combination. They also remain semi-crunchy in milk but eventually soften, although the combined texture feels odd but good. The flavor is a bit sweet, oaty-bran flavor, as advertised!
Frosted Mini Wheats Honey
Unlike the wheaty regular frosted wheats, some of the wheat flavor here is replaced with a very light amount of honey flavor. It’s just a tad sweeter than regular Mini Wheats as well. Overall, better than regular ones. Cereal milk is plain. Decent dry and in milk
Released May / June 2023.
Frosted Mini Wheats Blueberry Muffin
Like the originals but a light blueberry flavor, not so much “muffin.” Less wheaty taste.
Frosted Mini Wheats Strawberry
Mini Wheats with a light strawberry taste, slightly less “wheaty.” Like other Mini Wheats, the squishy texture in milk is really enjoyable.
Little Bite Mini Wheats were released in 2009 along with original and Honey Nut varieties.
Little Bites Frosted Mini Wheats Chocolate
Tastes like a darkish chocolate, although the chocolate flavor isn’t all that strong and the overall sweetness is a little low. Less wheaty taste compared to the originals. I really like the squishy texture in milk.
Little Bite Mini Wheats were released in 2009 along with original and Honey Nut varieties.
Frosted Chocolate Cake
If you blindfolded me and put these next to Chocolate Mini Wheats, I probably couldn’t tell you the difference. The taste is lightly dark, almost cocoa tasting, and decently sweet, and the texture is identical to Mini Wheats; crunchy dry, eventually gets soft in milk. The cereal milk has the slightest taste of chocolate. I don’t feel any of the noted chocolate chips in these nor am I sure as to why they label this as ‘Frosted Chocolate Cake’ tasting.
Released May / June 2024 for the summer season alongside other limited edition cereals.
Apple Pie Toast Crunch
Not as sweet or cinnamony as the original, these instead have a fairly pleasant apple flavor with a hint of cinnamon and crust.
Released October 2021 for a limited time. Rereleased November 2022 for a limited time again.
Froot Loops with Marshmallows
Due to the marshmallows, this is sweeter than the more mildly sweet regular Froot Loops. There’s a good amount of marshmallows and it really brings out that fruity-like flavor. Good, crunchy dry, and in milk, starts to soften up quite a bit without losing flavor. Cereal milk is pretty plain.
Released some time over a decade ago in different forms, whether it was through holiday or regular marshmallow versions.
Chex Apple Cinnamon
Having a fairly strong smell, these have a decent apple cinnamon taste, just not as strong as the smell. Nothing too artificial or fake tasting.
