Great Value Cinnamon Mini Donut

Front box of Walmart Great Value Cinnamon Mini Donut cereal box.

Cinnamon Toast Crunch rival with slightly different texture. Slightly airy and just a tad crunchy dry, the sweetness and taste is nearly identical to CTC. Softens nicely in milk without getting super soggy. Cereal milk is top tier. Wonderful dry and in milk!

Released for a limited time to Walmart stores in May 2023 alongside Cotton Candy and Strawberry Lemonade cereals.

Tres Leches Toast Crunch

Front box of General Mills Tres Leches Toast Crunch cereal.

Less cinnamony than the originals and has a milky-like taste, a lot like tres leches! The sweetness is also slightly less. It’s good dry and in milk and the texture is the same as Cinnamon Toast Crunch. The big downside is that the cereal milk is decent but not quite as tasty and as the sweet originals because the milky taste gets lost in the milk.

Released some time in Spring between March – May 2023.

Rainbow Krispies

Front package of Kellogg's Rainbow Krispies cereal box.

Like a knockoff of Fruity Pebbles. The taste is near identical but slightly different and just a hair less sweet. The texture is also thicker. It gets soft in milk like Fruity Pebbles as well, and the cereal milk has a pretty decent fruity taste.

Released April 2023.

General Mills Golden Grahams S’mores

Reminds me of Post and Malt-O-Meal s’mores cereal versions but these feel just a tinge less sweet and flavorful overall. Don’t get me wrong, these are still great! Much of the flavor comes from the noticable Golden Grahams, and the marshmallows provide some sweetness. The chocolate is there but it could be stronger. They’re OK dry but in milk, the flavors combine super well together while retaining a light crunch. The leftover cereal milk absorbs some of that flavor as well.

Released January 2024. These have an extensive history dating back to the early 1980s where they were originally called S’mores Crunch and lacked the Golden Grahams. Then at another point, they were called S’mores Grahams. Later, they were discontinued until being brought back from the dead in 2024. Sources: here and here.

CinnaGraham Toast Crunch

Front of CinnaGraham Toast Crunch cereal box.

Strong graham cracker taste, light cinnamon and sugar. Overall, decent. OG cinna toast crunch has more sweetness and cinnamon.

Released December 2021.

Lucky Charms Berry Swirl

An immense amount of marshmallows! There’s nearly more sweet marshmallows than the berry tasting cereal itself which gives this cereal an overall very sweet but light berry taste. The texture is crunchy yet soft from all the marshmallows and in milk, it softens a little bit and doesn’t become soggy. Cereal milk has a decently sweet berry taste.

Released January 2024 along with several other new General Mills cereals.

Reese’s Puffs

Reese’s Puffs are like if Reese’s and Cocoa Puffs had a child. They’re sweet, have a nice Reese’s-like and chocolate taste, and the texture remains pretty crunchy in milk, sometimes a bit too crunchy. They’re also great dry!

Released 1994.

Honey Bunches of Oats – Original Honey Roasted

Does this Honey Bunches of Oats have extra honey or something? I love how sweet it is and the clusters are a wonderful touch to the texture. These are great dry or in milk!

Released 1989.

Berry Pebbles

Front of Berry Pebbles 2023 cereal box.

Similar sweet level to Fruity Pebbles but with a berry taste consisting of blueberry, raspberry, strawberry, etc. Same texture. Cereal milk is also tasty.

Originally introduced in 2007 as Bamm-Bamm Berry Pebbles, they’ve come and gone with different names and themes. In March 2023, these came back as limited edition and a theme around celebrating the achievements of women.

Apple Fritter

Front of Great Value Apple Fritter cereal box.

You cannot get any closer to the flavor of an apple fritter! The apple flavor is sweet but not overpowering, having a dough-like taste in the background. The cereal remains fairly crunchy in milk.

Released late 2022 / early 2023 alongside Walmart’s brand, Great Value, Fudge Brownie. On the box, both say ‘limited edition’ although there doesn’t seem to be a corresponding holiday or event to warrant it.

Strawberry Milkshake Frosted Flakes

Front of Frosted Flakes Strawberry Milkshake cereal box.

Sweeter than other versions of Frosted Flakes, these tasted like if the OG Frosted Flakes and Strawberry Nesquik had a child. The big takeaway with this version is the sweet strawberry flavor, especially pairing well with milk, as the box suggests, it does indeed make your cereal milk amazing!

Released alongside Cinnamon French Toast in May 2022.

Cap’n Crunch’s Peanut Butter Crunch

Front of Cap'n Crunch's Peanut Butter Crunch cereal box.

Same texture and crunchyness as the Berries, not quite as sweet, these instead have a fairly nice peanut butter taste. Not quite as tasty as Reese’s Puffs though!

Released 1969.

Honey Smacks

A childhood staple and something I’d eat with my dad. They’re sweet and have a honeyish taste. The texture is a bit different compared to most cereals but overall pretty good.

Released 1953.

Frosted Pandora Flakes

Front of Pandora Frosted Flakes cereal box.

If Frosted Flakes and Cap’n Crunch had a child, this would be it. Fairly sweet and a strong blueberry taste, this little blueberry “blue moons” have the same texture as Cap’n Crunch Berries, remaining crunchy in milk. In milk, the crunchy blue moons with the soft chewy flakes make a good combination.

Released December 2022 as part of of a promotion for the movie, Avatar: The Way of Water, limited edition.

Kellogg’s Smorz

Front of Kellogg's Smorz cereal box.

Unlike Post’s S’mores, these don’t have explicit separate pieces like a graham cracker, marshmallow, and chocolate. The chocolate is included in both the marshmallow and graham cracker parts of the cereal. It does a decent job at replicating the traditional s’mores flavor, with the chocolatey side overshadowing the graham cracker and marshmallow. When dry, they taste mostly like a regular chocolate cereal. Unfortunately, while not as good as the Post version, these are still pretty good.

Released in 2003 but discontinued a decade later. It later came back to run between 2015 to 2019, and then returned again in 2021.

Frosted Flakes

A sugary sweet cereal with a nice corn-like taste. Great texture in milk as it doesn’t get overly soggy but does get soft. Decent dry as well.

Released 1952.

Chocolate Frosted Flakes

Front of Kellogg's Chocolate Frosted Flakes cereal box.

The chocolate taste is overall pretty good. It’s fairly sweet and has the same texture as regular Frosted Flakes. Also decent dry.

Cocoa Frosted Flakes debuted in 1997 and discontinued in 2000. These came back in November 2017 as Chocolate Frosted Flakes.

Frosted Flakes Obi-Wan Kenobi, Light & Dark

Front of Kellogg's Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi Frosted Flakes cereal box. Mix of light side and dark side chocolate flakes.

Combining the two didn’t do it justice as unfortunately, it tasted like a lighter version of the chocolate at best.

Released July 2022 with the release of Obi-Wan Kenobi movie, limited edition. This cereal has a very extensive history! Some people may remember the lightsaber cereal spoons released with the original many years ago. For a thorough history lesson, visit here.

Frosted Flakes with Vanilla Marshmallows

Front box of Frosted Flakes with Vanilla Marshmallows.

The big takeaway from this are the marshmallows. This cereal packs in a large amount of marshmallows compared to other cereals and for the most part, they’re identical in taste to other cereal marshmallows but the texture is a little chewier. Mixed in with the usual Frosted Flakes, due to Frosted Flakes already being sweet, it doesn’t add anything in terms of flavor and sweetness, though, the addition does add a variation to the texture.

Released April 2020.

Cap’n Crunch’s OOPS! All Berries

Front of Oops! All Berries Cap'n Crunch cereal box.
60th Anniversary Box

Sweet, berry-fruit-like taste. Gets slightly soft after some time in milk but remains crunchy. These berries alongside their Captain Crunch counterpart, mixed together, makes one of the best cereals so unfortunately, as this is All Berries, it feels like something is missing.

Released in 1997.

Honey Bunches of Oats – Almonds

Coming in a variety of flavors, this almond one is a wannabe healthy cereal, packing some sweetness but not quite compared to some other variants. It’s got the crunchiness of the grains, the softness of the flakes, and some decently sized almonds in there.

Released 1989.

Cocoa Puffs Minis

Front package of Post Cocoa Puffs Minis cereal box.

In my opinion, a better version than regular Cocoa Puffs! Due to size, they get softer quicker in milk and don’t have a rough mouth feel (original Cocoa Puffs can hurt your mouth due to rough texture). The taste and everything else is the same as the originals.

Released April 2023 alongside Trix Minis and other cereals.

Back package of Post Cocoa Puffs Minis cereal box.

Cinnamon Chex

This cereal simply hopes to be Life Cinnamon. The texture is OK in milk, remaining somewhat crunchy. Decent dry or in milk overall. The cinnamon and sugar ratio also just don’t do it for me compared to Life Cinnamon.

Chex was released in 1950.

Count Chocula

Front of General Mills Count Chocula cereal box.

Sweeter than other Monster Cereals, its texture is on the crunchy side but does get softer after a while in milk. The chocolate flavor is pretty good, tasting between too artificial and perfection, right in the middle.

One of the first Monster Cereals released back in 1971, this history has an extensive history. This cereal and the other Monster Cereals release around Halloween for a limited time.
