Yield: Cupcakes with Christmas Tree Cones

Ingredients

  • Cupcake, brownie, or muffin mix
  • Green frosting
  • White frosting
  • Sugar cones
  • Powdered sugar
  • Christmas sprinkles
  • Mini candies (optional)

Utensils

  • Large cupcake baking tray (smaller cupcakes may not be able to support the weight)
  • Cupcake liners
  • Piping bag with star tip

Let’s Make It!

  1. Bake the cupcakes with the liners. Let cool.
  2. Frost the top of the cupcakes with white frosting.
  3. Give a thin coat of green frosting to the outer shells of the sugar cones.
  4. Optional: Place a few candies inside the cone.
  5. Flip cone up, attach cupcake to it, set down.
  6. With piping bag and tip, pipe branches along base of cone facing slightly outwards and up, continuing to the top of the cone until completed.
  7. Decorate tree with Christmas sprinkles but sprinkling onto the tree or placing them individually.
  8. Dust top with powdered sugar.
  9. Store at room temperature or refrigerate for up to a few days, be careful as these are difficult to cover.

Notes & Alternatives

  • Larger cupcakes hold the weight of the cone (and candies) better. For extra sturdiness, instead of cupcake mix, use brownie or muffin mix.
  • You can also use white frosting for the tree itself for a white tree.

Up close. The presents are little pieces of custom made fondant I made — not too hard to do!
