Reviewing Niagara Churros and Vanilla Cold Brew, TooGoodGourmet Cookies, & More

Updated:

This snack review has Niagara Chocolates Churros & Hot Chocolate Clusters and Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew Cups, TooGoodGourmet Confetti Cake Batter Cookies, Lofthouse S’mores Cookies, and Hellenic Treasures Handmade Baklavas. My absolute favorite out of this bunch were the Cake Batter Cookies for how cake-battery they actually were! However, despite loving Lofthouse Cookies, I was a bit disappointed as they didn’t taste much like s’mores.

Niagara Chocolates Churros & Hot Chocolate Clusters

Score: 7 / 10

Front package of Niagara Chocolates Churros & Hot Chocolate Clusters.

Little cinnamon and milk chocolate tasting clusters. These clusters are a bit crunchy from the embedded pieces. The bar is a little sweet overall and doesn’t necessarily taste like a churro or hot chocolate necessarily. I feel like they were trying to hit too many different flavor profiles at once.

Niagara Chocolates has been around since the 1950s but recently has had to start closing its doors mid 2023. Not sure when this flavor was released. Found at Ocean State Job Lot.

Niagara Chocolates Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew Cups

Score: 7 / 10

Front package of Niagara Chocolates Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew cups.

Fairy dark, solid and thick chocolate with a thin layer of lightly sweet soft gooey filling. The overall taste is a creamy, sweet coffee. I can’t tell if there’s vanilla flavor or if it’s a mix of vanilla and dark chocolate together, or just perhaps a light dark chocolate, not sure, there’s a lot of flavors interacting here!

TooGoodGourmet Confetti Cake Batter Cookies

Score: 8 / 10

Such an interesting texture! It’s a cross between already underbaked cookies and cookie dough. These are moist, a little chewy, and they pull apart just like cookie dough while also retaining the cookie texture and form The texture itself is a little gritty like it wasn’t mixed fully which adds nicely to the underbaked composition. The flavor is fairly sweet but not overly so, and resembles a vanilla birthday cake’ish flavor. A very unique and interesting “cookie” that is easily recommendable, unless you prefer fully baked cookies!

The company has been around since 1999, not sure when they released this. Found at Ocean State Job Lot.

Lofthouse S’mores Cookies

Score: 7 / 10

Front package of Lighthouse s'mores cookies.

Overall, a pretty sweet cookie and perhaps a tad less sweet than other Lofthouse cookies. It’s somewhat crumbly and slightly soft and easy to bite through. The cookie tastes like an artificial chocolate chip cookie, and the fairly thin layer of frosting is sweet and vanilla tasting. Not really like s’mores but still a good sweet cookie.

Not sure when these were released although reviews date back to 2021. Found at Aldi.

Hellenic Treasures Handmade Baklavas, Honey & Walnut

Score: 7 / 10

Front box of Hellenic Treasures Handmade Baklavas with honey & walnut.

Kind of soggy but still has some crunch and several good, tasty layers. I don’t taste too much honey although there is a noticable, almost fairly sweet and nutty flavor to it all. Not the freshest tasting baklava but still decent enough for something that’s boxed.

Hellenic Treasures has been around since 2018, not sure when this was released though. Found at Ocean State Job Lot.
