This snack review has Kung Fu Tea x Pikmin Fruit Slushes, Kentucky Fried Chicken Chocolate Chip Cake, Popeye’s Oreo Cheesecake Cup and Strawberry Biscuit, and Aldi Peanuts & Cornflakes Choceur Bar. Across the board, this snack and food haul were decent, although the Kung Fu Tea and Pikmin collab drink was a huge letdown.
Kung Fu Tea x Pikmin Fruit Slushes
Score: 3 / 10
With so many different combinations of fruits, a lot of the flavors and nuances get lost. It basically is just a super sweet, super artificial juice-flavored slush. The boba doesn’t help much as this popping boba instantly pops with even the slightest pressure and frankly, I’d just prefer regular boba pearls.
Released August 1st for a limited time.
Kentucky Fried Chicken Chocolate Chip Cake
Score: 6 / 10
It’s like a typical store-bought chocolate bundt cake. The cake is moist and semi-thick, although not as thick as a pound cake, for example. The chocolate is fairly sweet but not overly so as most of the sweetness comes from the lines of white drizzle. I also didn’t taste or notice any chocolate chips.
Not sure when this was released.
Popeye’s Oreo Cheesecake Cup
Score: 6.5 / 10
This is indeed cheesecake with Oreo. The Oreo is on top, embedded, and at the bottom, it’s quite a lot! The texture and taste are that of a regular lowish quality cheesecake slice, nothing to write home about. It would have been nicer with some syrup or whipped cream topping.
Released July 24, 2023 for a limited time. No word on how long it’ll be available.
Popeye’s Strawberry Biscuit
Score: 6 / 10
The biscuit has little embedded strawberries in it; it’s nothing overwhelming, and it’s almost subtle. You can definitely taste them. The texture of the biscuit is great, as it’s fluffy and a little moist. In all, it’s a bit underwhelming as it’s mostly just a regular Popeye’s biscuit.
Released March 27, 2023 for a limited time.
Aldi Peanuts & Cornflakes Choceur Bar
Score: 6 / 10
Semi-sweet, small peanut flavor with a light crunch. These bars are also very thick and have quite a bit of peanut and cornflakes embedded within them. The chocolate bar is a little less sweet than typical bars like Hershey’s. The quality tastes very average, and the texture of the chocolate is typical; it is neither soft nor too hard.
Likely released sometime in the summer of 2023. Exclusive to Aldi as this brand is produced by Storck for Aldi stores.
