Kong Dog Churro and Milky Kong Dogs

Scores
Churro: 8 / 10
Milky: 7.5 / 10

Overall, both are pretty good. My personal preference would be the Churro Kong Dog due to the bolder and stronger flavors. However, if you want something more unoffending, get the Milky version.

Churro Kong Dog: Super big! This reminds me of a soft, semi-chewy doughboy from the inside dough and a semi-crunchy mozzarella stick on the outside from being fried. It is cinnamony with a thick hunk of cheese and a hotdog in the center. The cheese part is much better as the hotdog is noticeably plain and tastes like your typical Americano hotdog; the cheese really compliments the dog better overall. Unfortunately, I didn’t notice the sweet potato bits on the outside much.

Milky Kong Dog: A little smaller than its Churro brother, this also instead sports a super light powder natural bean-like taste and, combined with the light topping of sweetened condensed milk, is a nice combination of sweet and savory. Neither overpowers the other; they both come across as light in terms of flavor, especially compared to the Churro Kong Dog, which is stronger.

got milk? Hazelnut Wafer Rolls

Score: 7.5 / 10

First off, wow, this is annoying. They’re all individually wrapped in thick plastic, making them tedious to open. You may end up breaking it all apart trying to open it.

I’ve never seen chocolate chocolate wafers. Biting in, there’s a sweet, semi-dark hazelnut-like taste. It’s not exactly like hazelnut; it’s a bit more artificial tasting as if it was made to last a while. I thought the flavor might resemble Nutella, and although it’s sweet, it doesn’t reach those heights or quality of flavor. In fact, you could convince me I was eating a chocolate wafer stick with off-brand Nutella.

Additionally annoying was that they seemed to skimp on the filling. It just seems to cost the outside of the inside of the wafer; essentially, there isn’t much filling. Regardless, there’s a decent amount there to feel and taste the soft ganache-like texture.

I’m not sure when this was released. Found at Ocean State Job Lot.

Dove Dark Chocolate & Strawberry Swirl Promises

Score: 7 / 10

They’re not exactly crunchy, but they’re a bit hard, yet they have a smooth and creamy-tasting flavor. This flavor resembles a pretty sweet, dark chocolate with a background of strawberry. These candies aren’t necessarily too artificial, but I do feel like the strawberry side does lean towards it instead of a more authentic fruit flavor. Either way, these are reasonably good and sweet and will make most folks craving sugar happy.

Released for a limited time in January 2024 for Valentine’s. Found at Ocean State Job Lot.

Tidbits S’mores Macaroons

Score: 8 / 10

Compared to the many other macaroons I’ve tasted, this feels much more chewy and dense. Interestingly, it’s like they mixed in marshmallow, as it has that thick, “pulling” effect. It’s sweet, sporting a semi-dark coconut taste. Unfortunately, this chocolate overpowers the supposed s’mores flavor, which is missing the graham cracker and marshmallow, of which I don’t taste a lick of either of them. Basically, aside from the texture, these are your standard sweet, semi-dark chocolate macaroons.

Simply Nature Jalapeno Cranberry Kettle Chips

Score: 6.25 / 10

Opening these up, there’s a unique, sweet kick of light jalapeno. The taste is just that, too: a light, fruity cranberry taste alongside the smallest jalapeno spice. Together, it’s surprisingly pleasant and, notably, not at all offending, especially if you’re not into spicy chips. The fruity side is also very good and doesn’t come across as weird or out of place. These are perhaps one of the more unique chips I’ve ever had, and I’m glad I tried them!

While I can’t find an exact release date, reviews and mentions of this product date back to around February 2025. Found at Aldi.

Hans Freitag Strawberry Vanilla Wafers

Score: 5.5 / 10

I really thought I’d love these. Double frosting?! Sign me up! Except, don’t, because aren’t that great. This frosting is simply too artificial. It’s sort of soft but mostly stiff and has an odd artificial “cooling” taste. This frosting-to-wafer ratio makes the wafer feel less soft and cheaper-feeling than others. The flavors resemble strawberry and vanilla, but they are very artificial. Weirdly, it’s as sweet as most other wafers that don’t have as much filling.

Pathos Vanilla Filled Wafer Rolls

Score: 8.25 / 10

This is so interesting! It’s a sweet vanilla, but not like what you might think. It genuinely feels like they used a premium, bold vanilla–nothing like a vanilla-tasting candy, then combined it with exceptional quality sugar.

This inside vanilla frosting is thick and feels like a ganache–the wafer is packed with it! Combined with the soft, crunchy, biscuity shell, it all feels substantially higher quality than other wafers. I’m not even a huge fan of vanilla, but they knocked it out of the park with this!

Hershey’s Cinnamon Toast Crunch Kisses

Score: 7.5 / 10

Definitely just like Cinnamon Toast Crunch in Kiss form. The center literally has little pieces of the crunchy cereal! It all comes across as sweet and cinnamony, but most of all, it’s super creamy, almost resembling the cereal milk itself! I think that, if anything, it’s just a wee bit less sweet than the actual cereal, but if you want Cinnamon Toast Crunch wrapped up in a candy form, this is the definitive edition!

Released February 2025.
