Rating & Ranking Hershey’s Ice Cream Shoppe Candy Bars

by Victor Martelle

Hershey’s currently has six different Ice Cream Shoppe related candy bars. In 2020, three flavors were released including Cookies ‘N’ Mint, Birthday Cake, and Strawberries ‘N’ Creme, though, Strawberries ‘N’ Creme was initially introduced in 2005 and may have been discontinued at some point. A year later in 2021, they expanded to reach the US, however, they were and still are exclusive to the Hershey’s online shop and Hershey’s Chocolate World. Then in January 2023, another three flavors were added: Cotton Candy, Chocolate Hazelnut and Salted Caramel. Like the other three, these could only be found online and at Hershey’s Chocolate World.

1. Chocolate Hazelnut

Score: 7.5 / 10

This almost reminds me of Hershey’s Symphony with Toffee & Almonds. The chocolate here though is more of a relatively sweet creamy hazelnut flavor. In addition, there’s little bits of hazelnuts that give it the lightest crunch but for the most part, it’s not that noticable and remains as a mostly regular chocolate textured bar.

2. Salted Caramel

Score: 7 / 10

Front package of Hershey Ice Cream Shoppe Salted Caramel Bar.

Bits of crunchy caramel bits are scattered in this bar. As written on the package, it does taste like a sweet and creamy salted caramel bar. This caramel flavor, despite the bar being sweet, isn’t overpowering or too bold in any sense.

3. Cookies ‘N’ Mint

Score: 7 / 10

Front package of Hershey Ice Cream Shoppe Cookies 'N' Mint Bar.

Unlike some other mint based candies, this isn’t as punchy. The mint in this is pretty light and the cookie flavor adds just a hint of chocolate as well as a light crunch from the tiny cookie pieces in the bar. If you’re worried about “toothpaste” flavoring, don’t fret, this is very tame!

4. Birthday Cake

Score: 6.5 / 10

Front package of Hershey Ice Cream Shoppe Birthday Cake Bar.

On the sweeter side, this bar tastes mostly like a sugary, plain tasting bar. There is a super small vanilla birthday cake flavor but honestly, it needs to be stronger. The addition of crunchy colorful pieces, while a nice addition to the composition, does leave me asking why they didn’t use sprinkles or Funfetti instead.

5. Strawberries ‘N’ Creme

Score: 6 / 10

Front package of Hershey Ice Cream Shoppe Strawberries 'N' Creme Bar.

Right on the money, just as advertised! A moderately sweet, creamy strawberry flavored Hershey’s bar with tiny specs that give it some crunch.

6. Cotton Candy

Score: 5.5 / 10

Front package of Hershey Ice Cream Shoppe Cotton Candy Bar.

I thought this would be worse but it’s actually more of a pleasant, mild, cotton candy-like flavor. It isn’t exactly cotton candy and nowhere near as strong, and I’m glad because it could have been a lot worse as cotton candy flavoring can be really hit or miss. There’s also bits in the bars that provide some crunch.
