I’ll be ranking and reviewing all of the Prime Bites protein mini muffins that I can find!
Prime Bites has been known for its protein brownie line since 2021, becoming a viral hit, especially on social media. They then eventually introduced these protein mini muffins in late 2024.
You can find my review of their protein brownies here.
What do these have in common?
Biting into these, they aren’t quite a muffin nor brownie (note: Prime Bites are known for their brownies. It’s a combination of both, reminding me of an “adult version” of Little Bites muffins. Compared to those, these are less fluffy and moist, and instead are thicker, drier, and feel like they tried to combine a muffin and a brownie.
Taste-wise, don’t expect anything super sweet here. As I mentioned, these are adult-focused, where each flavor comes across as milder than you might expect, and the sweetness is kept under control. At the same time, all of these had a slight artificial, protein-like taste. It wasn’t super noticeable or off-putting, but you can taste it if you look for it. What results is no genuinely distinct flavors, where each one is more muted than it should be due to the lack of sweetness and potential mix-ins they could have added — seriously, the drizzle on these is over-exaggerated on the package.
In general, I wasn’t fully satisfied with how these came out. They don’t do the muffin or brownie part particularly well, and combining the two led to a texture that was drier than it ought to be. At the very least, they do have some heft to them, and if you aren’t into super-sweet or boldly flavored protein products, these could be for you.
Otherwise, these definitely need more sweetness and flavor at the very least.

1. Blueberry Muffin
Probably the most authentic tasting here, granted, most blueberry muffins I’ve had have some artificial weirdness to them; You know, those cheap gas station blueberry muffins that are sweet with artificial blueberry–same exact flavor profile here, albeit less sweet (by a lot). Interestingly, these had the same level of sweetness as birthday cake: a bit sweeter than Chocolate Chip and Chocolate Fudge, but it doesn’t save it from the fate of its flavor being too mild, especially for a blueberry muffin.
Notably, the embedded blueberry pieces don’t do anything as they’re too small, and the lavender color drizzle is unique-looking, but it only provides color.
2. Birthday Cake
Definitely the most pretty here with the embedded melted color sprinkles and slightly thicker drizzle than the others–which also does provide a slight contrast and a smidge more sweetness to its texture. The taste is a mild to moderate, slightly artificial vanilla flavor and a hint of birthday cake. It’s slightly sweeter than the others, specifically Chocolate Fudge and Chocolate Chip.
This is just a tame vanilla-like muffin that needs more sweetness and authetic birthday cake flavor to really get it going.
3. Chocolate Fudge
It’s a chocolate-like muffin. Nothing more. A mildly dark chocolate muffin with no bitterness and having the same slight artificial aftertaste as the others on here. It’s not a bad muffin per se, it’s just super generic and boring. Not even the drizzle on top helps. Inoffensive, though in my opinion, it could have been a lot more, perhaps by incorporating other types of chocolate flavor or contrasting bits on the inside.
4. Chocolate Chip
It at least looks like a chocolate chip muffin: light brown dough with tiny embedded chips that are as soft as the muffin, basically doing nothing as the entire muffin is uniformly textured. It’s not sweet, resulting in a very tame chocolate chip cookie taste. Honestly, these are in a way the least sweet chocolate chip cookies I’ve had! You sort of have the flavor, now, you just need some more sweetness–and some actual chocolate chips, please!
5. Apple Cinnamon Raisin
Mildly sweet, with a light cinnamon apple muffin taste. Unfortunately, I don’t get much raisin–there was a tiny piece of one on the inside–it did nothing–yes, only a single one! A big takeaway is that it does taste authentic for the most part, it’s just the sweetness and combination of flavors are too light. What you get is a too tame apple cinnamon flavor thrown into a mini muffin.
These were released around September 2025 and are not part of the variety pack. I found them at Target in late November 2025.
