Ranking Entenmann’s Little Bites, and the Company and Release Histories

Updated:

While Entenmann’s has been around since 1898, Little Bites are a little newer. In 1999, Little Bites rolled out with the some of the same classics that are still shelved today: Chocolate Chip Muffin, Blueberry Muffin, and Fudge Brownies. Little Bites has become so popular due to convenience and tastiness that competitors have created their own products such as Little Debbie’s Mini Muffins and Brownies released in 2012, Tastykake Mini Muffins, and likely more. The rollout of new Little Bites did not slow however, and they would later go on to release many different others, including holiday specials, limited editions, and more, and of which, the details of these release histories will be highlighted below in the rankings.

Of course, with so many variations of Little Bites, I had to take the plunge and make a ranking of all of them. This ranking is my own personal list and I can’t wait to add more should they release different ones!

1. Blueberry Muffins

Score: 8 / 10

Box and package of Entenmann's Little Bites Blueberry Muffins.

The taste is similar to a regular cheap store bought muffin. They’re on the sweeter side and the taste has some artificialness to it but neither hinder the experience much. The texture is where it differs from a regular muffin as these are more moist, soft, and slightly chewy. They aren’t aren’t crumbly like most muffins. Additionally, the little blueberries throughout don’t add much in terms of taste or texture.

Part of the first ever Little Bites products, these were released in 1999 alongside Fudge Brownies and Chocolate Chip Muffins.

2. Crumb Cakes

Score: 7.75 / 10

Box and package of Entenmann's Little Bites Crumb Cakes.

About identical to a coffee or crumb cake but in miniature form. The upper half of these are entirely crumb but it isn’t too messy and sticks together well. With the crumb and the soft, moist bottom layer, the combined texture is great. For the taste, it’s simply a little crumb cake, having a nicely sweet cinnamon and sugar taste.

Inspired by their Classic Crumb Cake, this was released in 2013.

3. Toast-Yay Girl Scout Muffins

Score: 7.5 / 10

Little Bites Toast-Yay Girl Scout Muffins.

While not as moist as the other muffin variants, they’re still just right. As advertised, the flavor is spot on–it really feels like you’ve taken pieces off a slice of French toast. You can taste the cinnamon, the egg, bread, and seasoning, it’s about as perfect of a replica that you could probably find in muffin form!

Released early April 2024 and will only be around until July.

4. Party Cake Muffins

Score: 7.25 / 10

Box and package of Entenmann's Little Bites Party Cake Muffins.

A little drier than a few of the other Little Bites Muffins in a good way. Instead of being very moist, this texture is more accurate to a regular muffin, although it’s not as crumbly like one. It’s also soft and easy to bite through. In terms of sweetness, it’s pretty sweet with a vanilla-like taste. The baked in sprinkles don’t add much other than looking pretty.

Released in 2014.

5. Banana Muffins

Score: 7 / 10

Box and package of Entenmann's Little Bites Banana Muffins.

Different than your typical banana muffins, well, it’s in the name, these are banana muffins while most “banana muffins” are technically “banana nut muffins.” As implied by the name, these are banana tasting but are missing the nutty part that often accompanies it. This banana flavor, like most other cheap banana muffins, is artificial and sweet tasting. Often, these strong flavors are balanced with the nutty part but unfortunately, this doesn’t have. The composition is moist, soft, and not crumbly like most other muffins.

Released in 2008.

6. Chocolate Chip Muffins

Score: 7 / 10

Box and package of Entenmann's Little Bites Chocolate Chip Muffins.

Soft, moist, not crumbly like your typical muffin, and in terms of taste and texture, artificial. They’re like cheap muffins, with that muffin taste and a light chocolate background from the chocolate chips. These chocolate chips don’t add much to the texture though.

Part of the first ever Little Bites products, these were released in 1999 alongside Blueberry Muffins and Fudge Brownies.

7. Chocolate Chip Cookies

Score: 6.75 / 10

Box and package of Entenmann's Little Bites Chocolate Chip Cookies.

If you had these side by side with chewy Chips Ahoy!, you’d likely find they’re very similar though there’s some differences. These are slightly less chewy (but still chewy), and the taste is a bit different. The taste isn’t crazy or anything, it’s just an artificial tasting, sweetish chocolate cookie. The chocolate chips don’t add much either as the entire cookie has uniform texture and taste.

Introduced in 2019 as part of their first Little Bites Cookies line next to Party Cake Cookies.

8. Fudge Brownies

Score: 6.75 / 10

Box and package of Entenmann's Little Bites Fudge Brownies.

Taste is similar to regular brownies although more artificial. They also aren’t as moist as they’re on the drier end but still just moist enough for them to be soft and not fall apart. There is some thickness to them which is nice, and for the most part, they fall a little on the darker side but they’re also a little sweet.

Part of the first ever Little Bites products, these were released in 1999 alongside Blueberry and Chocolate Chip Muffins.

9. Strawberry Yogurt Muffins

Score: 6.5 / 10

Box and package of Entenmann's Little Bites Strawberry Yogurt Muffins.

Compared to some of the other Little Bites Muffins, these are a little drier, making them more closely resemble a normal muffin in terms of texture. It’s still a little moist and soft, and not at all crumbly. The taste is a lightish creamy strawberry that’s just above semi-sweet and quite pleasant to eat.

Initially released in 2014 as a seasonal item. In 2017, it was released as a permanent product.

10. Party Cake Cookies

Score: 6.5 / 10

Front package of Entenmann's Little Bites Soft Baked Mini Party Cake Cookies.

They’re like the Chocolate Chip Cookies variant in terms of texture; a little chewy, soft, and there’s just a slightly more crunch to them, perhaps because they’re thinner. They kind of remind me of a sugar cookie, though, the taste is like a vanilla birthday cake flavor. Also to note, the colorful sprinkles also don’t add anything to it aside from looking nice.

Introduced in 2019 as part of their first Little Bites Cookies line next to Chocolate Chip Cookies.

11. Pumpkin Muffins

Score: 6.25 / 10

Box and package of Entenmann's Little Bites Pumpkin Muffins.

Moist, soft, and somewhat chewy, the texture is similar to regular cheap muffins. The pumpkin flavor has a bold, clear taste that isn’t overpowering or too artificial either. There’s also a smidge of cinnamon in the background alongside this pumpkin flavoring.

First released in 2012, these come back every year for the fall season in September.

12. Cinnamon Buns

Score: 6 / 10

Box and package of Limited Edition Little Bites Cinnamon Buns.

They’re like the other muffin varieties as they’re moist, a little chewy, and the texture overall is great, but I can’t get over the taste. Almost semi-sweet, and the cinnamon and creamy taste you associate with cinnamon buns isn’t full all there. They really need to simply adds more flavor and increase the sweetness just a tad.

Released November 2023 and will be available until March 2024.

13. Lower Sugar Chocolate Muffins.

Score: 5.75 / 10

Little Bites Lower Sugar Chocolate Muffins.

The awkward child of Little Bites Brownies and Muffins. Not as bold and chocolatey as the brownies and not as textured as their muffins, it comes across as unfulfilling and very… “meh.” If they want to step up their game with this, they have to add chocolate chips or something else to help give a boost to the texture and flavor.

Released late April 2024 along with a lower sugar Apple Cinnamon Muffin variant.

14. Lower Sugar Apple Cinnamon Muffins

Score: 5.75 / 10

Little Bites Lower Sugar Apple Cinnamon Muffins.

These really remind me of an apple pie; Super light cinnamon with a noticeable and refreshing apple taste. Despite being lower sugar, these still come out as sweet just like most of the other Little Bites. Personally, I’m just not the biggest fan of an apple muffin!

Released late April 2024 along with a lower sugar Chocolate Muffin variant.
