Oreo Balls

Updated:

Yield: ~20-30 Oreo balls

Ingredients

  • regular sized package of Oreos or around 36 cookies
  • 8 oz room temperature (or close to) cream cheese
  • 16 oz meltable chocolate
  • milk or oil (optional)

Utensils

  • food processor or blender (optional)
  • mixing bowl
  • bowl for meltable chocolate
  • parchment paper

Let’s Make It!

  1. In a food processor or blender, combine Oreos and cream cheese until mixed. Do not overmix. If you don’t have either of these, place Oreos in a plastic bag and use a beating object to pulverize them, then mix with cream cheese.
  2. Place the meltable chocolate in a bowl and microwave for a few seconds, stir, and repeat until it starts to melt. Add milk, vegetable oil, or water to achieve a thick but mixable consistency. Don’t add too much liquid or else the chocolate won’t harden!
  3. Roll them in the melted chocolate, tap against the side of the bowl to remove excess. If they’re too crumbly, pour melted chocolate over them.
  4. Place the balls onto parchment lined dish.
  5. Refrigerate for 45 minutes or until chocolate hardens.
  6. Enjoy! Place in the microwave for 20-30 seconds for a warm oreo ball!
  7. Store in fridge for up to 4-5 days.

History

  • I first had these during college when a roommate knocked on my dorm door asking me if I wanted any. I said I didn’t know what they were, but he assured me they were these amazing Oreo balls I “had to try.” I try a bite, and ever since then, I’ve continually made them for family and parties, and they’ve always been a hit!
