Ranking and reviewing all of the new Ghost protein bars. Are these worth buying? What are the best and worst flavors?
Review & Verdict
Ghost makes some of the most interesting and tasty protein powders in the supplement industry. With the release of their new protein bar line on October 1, 2025, how did they perform?
The flavors Ghost has released so far, at the time of this writing, are Chocolate Peanut Butter, Choco Chip Cookie Dough, and Chocolate Caramel.
First, when you open the package, you’re likely to be reminded of Twix: each package contains two sticks of these bars. Reading the back, they do fall on the higher end of the calorie-to-protein ratio side, unfortunately.
Compositionally, like Twix, they all have a wafer-like inside and an identical chocolate-tasting and looking shell that encompasses it. The Chocolate Caramel flavor is just as shown on the package: it features a wafer-like, soft-solid filling that doesn’t resemble a wafer per se, but does offer a crunchier, protein-based filling. This filling reminds me of a mix of cake and wafers or even a less thick marzipan, if you’ve ever had that. Additionally, it contains a thin layer of chewy, gooey caramel on top. Choco Chip and Chocolate Peanut Butter are identical in terms of appearance, with the same exact-looking gooey filling and protein inside. Interesting.
Essentially, these three have nearly identical textures. They’re lightly crunchy and have a mild chew. Nothing is too strong or off-putting so far; however, I find the mix of wafer and protein filling to have an interesting mouthfeel, as if they’ve mixed wafer bits into it. Notably, none of these are dense; instead, they fall on the more airy side.
The Chocolate Caramel tastes like a mildly sweet off-brand milk chocolate with a slightly sweeter caramel. I didn’t detect much artificialness; however, there is a mild protein bar taste that some may find a bit unusual if they aren’t accustomed to it. Overall, it’s moderately sweet, has a candy caramel taste, and a background of milk chocolate. Fairly pleasant overall, and my favorite out of the bunch.
Choco Chip has the taste of a moderate, mild chocolate and… that’s it! The entire bar is just that–a moderately sweet, generic milk chocolate bar. It’s honestly kind of boring and tastes like a generic protein bar–yes, that means a small taste of protein bar flavor, though I didn’t find it off-putting or too artificial. Nothing stands out here, though it’s a smidge less chewy than the other two on this list and is the least offensive. Unfortunately, the cookie taste is absent, although in a sense, you do get it from the combination of wafer and chocolate together.
And lastly, the Chocolate Peanut Butter has a milk chocolate taste with a noticeable, slightly sweet and bitter peanut butter flavor. I’m not sure if it’s the flavoring they used or what, but it does seem there is a small artificial pinch from the peanut. It’s not too overt, so in the end, what you end up with is a moderately sweet, lightly artificial-tasting chocolate peanut bar. I wish the peanut were more candy-like and the bar as a whole were sweeter to really bring out the flavors.
These bars aren’t bad, though I didn’t find them as dense as other protein bars, and further, they’re all of the same texture. Each one also has a light protein-like taste, so if you’re sensitive to that, I suggest staying away. The flavors are represented well enough; the sweetness is moderate and not too light or too strong. However, the flavors as a whole feel somewhat hampered by the protein taste I alluded to earlier.
Overall, Ghost protein bars won’t blow you away, but they won’t disappoint either.
