Review of New Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cookies, Limited Edition Hostess Snacks, & More

Updated:

This snack review has the newly released Pillsbury Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cookies & Popcorn, and the new Hostess Limited Edition Spring snacks like the Key Lime Pie Cupcakes and Strawberry Twinkies. The biggest disappointment was from the Cinnamon Toast Crunch Popcorn, which was, well, nothing as advertised. However, as usual, Hostess never misses with their snacks.

Pillsbury Soft Baked Cinnamon Toast Crunch Cookies

Scores: 7 / 10

When warmed up, it’s a bit floppy and flimsy, but the taste is even better. Without warming up, they’re soft but not overly chewy or as thick as Chips Ahoy! are. They have a nice sweet cinnamon taste but also aren’t too sweet or strong either, like the cereal variation. The embedded chunks are cinnamon and add a nice, almost slight crunch texture.

Released March 2023 alongside a Lucky Charms version. Found at Walmart.

Hostess Spring Limited Edition Key Lime Cupcakes

Scores: 8 / 10

Like their other cupcakes, these are fairly sweet. The taste isn’t super limey, but it’s clearly there. Overall, it is a sweet lime, not-too-tart cupcake that is a nice addition to the Hostess Cupcake line.

First released in 2021, they’ve come back for the 2023 spring season.

Hostess Spring Limited Edition Strawberry Twinkies

Score: 9 / 10

Front package of Hostess limited edition spring Strawberry Twinkies.

Sweet like the normal Twinkies, but with a strawberry cream in the middle. The strawberry isn’t at all overwhelming, and it’s quite pleasant.

Released several years ago, perhaps as early as or before 2012. They’ve come and gone and are now back for the 2023 spring season for a limited time.

General Mills Cinnamon Toast Crunch Popcorn

Score: 5 / 10

Very disappointing. They aren’t nearly as sweet as the cereal variation, and frankly, the flavor and sweetness just aren’t there like the other cereal popcorns. It has the popcorn texture of caramel popcorn with a super light coating of cinnamon and sugar.

Released in July 2021 exclusively for Sam’s Club and Walmart. Other flavors like Trix were also released. Not to be confused with SNAX-Sational cereal-flavored popcorns.
