A review and flavor tier list of various chewing gum, from Trident to 5 Gum, including limited edition and exclusive flavors.

Ice Breakers Ice Cubes Snow Cone Gum
These look like square, sugary-coated, gritty white pieces of cookie dough with bright specks. Biting into them, they’re noticeably soft and thick, with the usual gummy chew. The initial burst of flavor is sugary sweet with a mix of creamy fruit and berries. Notably, it’s not overt or punchy, or even as fruity as other gums, either. I can definitely see some resemblance to typical snow cone flavors. The overall flavors linger for some time, slowly dying down โ I wish they lasted a bit longer, especially since it comes on so strong.
Released as early as 2018. Found at Walmart in early August 2026.

5 Gum Peppermint Cobalt
This stick of blue gum is so, so addicting. It presents itself as a slightly spicy, yet pleasant, moderately sweet peppermint. It can be both used as an after meal refresher or if you want something sweet–it can do anything! The best thing of all? It lasts for so long! From start to finish, while it does slowly lose flavor, it’s one of the longest lasting gums I’ve come across. That, on top of its already sweet peppermint, makes for one of the best overall gums I’ve had.
5 Gum Sour Sweet Berry Evolution
It smells like a mix of sour and sweet, candy-like berry, and has a white-looking appearance. The taste is almost entirely sweet, berry-like. It’s not overly bold or sugary; instead, it feels like a smooth, generic berry flavor. Interestingly, after a few minutes of chewing, the berry flavor remains but becomes more “warm.” It’s hard to explain โ it’s almost like it becomes a little sweeter. Even more so, after chewing longer, the flavor doesn’t seem to fade, giving you a long-lasting, sweet berry gum.
Unfortunately, I didn’t perceive any sourness from this gum.
Released April 2026. Found at Cumberland Farms in early September 2026.
5 Gum Respawn by Razer Pomegranate Watermelon
Interestingly, has the same gunmetal-blue foil packaging around each piece of gum as the Cool Mint flavor โ shouldn’t it have been dark red? And even more weirdly, the gum looks the same too–a dark purple with a white coating.
Anyway… The flavor is definitely different. It’s an almost tropically sweet combination with a smooth watermelon and something else. I wouldn’t say it’s punchy or sour enough to resemble pomegranate, and frankly, I don’t think it’s exactly that flavor either. Either way, it’s a unique-tasting gum–definitely worth a try if you want something sweet and long-lasting.
5 Gum released three flavors in this lineup: Pomegranate, Cool Mint, and Tropical Punch. Found early September at Cumberland Farms.
5 Gum Respawn by Razer Cool Mint
Dark, gunmetal-blue foil with RESPAWN written several times across the wraps of each piece of gum โ it’s kind of cool and different from the usual 7 Gum packaging. Appearance-wise, it’s a white-dusted, dark bluish-purple piece of gum.
Then, in terms of taste, it’s a reasonably bold, slightly punchy, cool mint flavor. Not the punchiest I’ve had, nor is it sharp, but it’s refreshing, offers a decent amount of sweetness, and cools your breath a bit. Essentially, this tastes like a variation of a typical mint-flavored gum. Lastly, the flavor lingers for a while, even after many minutes of chewing.
5 Gum released three flavors in this lineup: Pomegranate, Cool Mint, and Tropical Punch. Found early September at Cumberland Farms.
Trident Vibes Redberry Sour Patch Kids Gum
Fairly large, roundish red squares with a light, gritty coating. They have a super sweet, sugary, fruit- or berry-like smell.
Biting in, you’re hit with a surprisingly sour red fruit/berry candy taste. It definitely comes across as more sour than sweet and more sour than regular Sour Patch Kids. Over time, the sourness and flavor do die down a bit, especially the sourness, letting a little more sweetness come through and creating a more balanced, “regular gum” flavor profile.
Redberry and Blueraspberry were released in September 2022. Found on the Target website in early September 2026.
Trident Vibes Spearmint Rush
The mint of these is different than other minty gums. It’s a very smooth, almost creamy, and sweet type of mint. It’s not super punchy or toothpaste-like, yet it’s still refreshing and enjoyable, with a moderately sweet, smooth-based mint flavor. It hits you with the first few bites, then lightens a little over time and keeps delivering good flavor. In my opinion, this is one of the better mint-based gums I’ve had. At the same time, I wouldn’t opt for this if I wanted a stronger gum with an extra-punchy minty taste.
Trident Bubblegum
A pinkish, white sugary dusted piece of gum. Something about this feels so… pure. Perfect, maybe. From start to finish, it’s moderately sweet and has a nice and pleasant traditional sugary bubblegum flavor. Simply put, the flavor fits perfectly despite itself not necessarily standing out like other gums that try to boast their taste through crazy or punchy combinations. The flavor doesn’t go die down easily either and lasts for quite a while.
Trident X For Gamers Citrus Mix
One of the thickest and chunkiest gums Iโve ever come across. Theyโre quite large and are in the shape of a circle square. Theyโre gritty and green on the outside with red specks. Biting in yields a slightly softer center and a sweet, fairly punchy citrus flavor. Itโs not super overwhelming by any means, though itโs appreciable and has a good amount of sweetness without coming across as candy-like or too artificial. Itโs actually a bit refreshing, yet still sweet, ever so slightly sour, and tasty. The initial flavor lasts a few minutes and fades over time, leaving you with something decent to chew on for a while.
Trident X Splash Fresa
Biting in, you’re met with a sugary sweet strawberry and a smidge of smooth, light citrus that appears to round it out. It’s not punchy and tastes creamier, with a little more sweetness than most other strawberry gums. It doesn’t come across as weirdly artificial or “this was made for kids” type of gum either. Another bonus is that the center is softer than the shell, which gives you an initial contrast of textures when you begin chewing. Most notably, it lasts quite some time and has quickly become one of my favorite gums, though, it’s quite small and doesn’t have the best fulfilling mouthfeel because of it.
Trident Vibes Cotton Candy
Initially biting into these pastel blueish-white cubes, it genuinely feels like you’re eating a chewy piece of cotton candy. In fact, it tastes more like cotton candy than the actual thing! The sweetness is perfect and the flavor profile is completely accurate to say the least. It does lose some of that tasty cotton candy and sweetness over time, though a sufficient amount still remains.

Ice Breakers Ice Cubes Frosted Lemonade
These smell like a strong, sweet, punchy lemonade, and the texture is a slightly gritty, chewy gum square.
In terms of flavor, it’s not as sweet or punchy as I expected, except initially where it hits you with a bunch of sugary lemonade flavor; it loses its flavor more quickly than I’d like. The sugary lemonade flavor is there, but it could use a bit more oomph overall. Instead, for better or worse, it falls on a less punchy, more smooth side of flavors. The flavor is mostly accurate, resembling a cold lemonade on a hot summer day, though it also has a “sugary gum” note.
Ice Breakers Ice Cubes Bubble Breeze
Coming in with a gritty, light, whitish-pink, they resemble a bubble gum flavor, sort of. The initial taste is off-putting, but after a few chews, it turns into a moderately sweet, artificial-like bubblegum with a hint of mint / generic refreshing flavor. This small note of flavor isn’t enough to kill the experience, but I’d prefer it not be there in the first place. Overall, it’s not a bad bubble gum flavor, but that refreshing-like background doesn’t really help; though it’s still sufficient to provide both a sweet and refreshing experience. The flavor of the gum lasts surprisingly longer than many of its competing Ice Breaker Ice Cubes flavors.
Ice Breakers Ice Cubed Strawberry Lemonade
Lightly gritty, soft, and thick square gum pieces. It hits you with a refreshingly sweet mix of equal parts strawberry and lemonade. It’s not at all punchy, instead leaning towards a more sugary side. Also, not quite as artificial a strawberry as other gums, and overall, that strawberry with the lemonade flavoring really reminds me of a summery sweet lemonade punch.
Trident Mint Bliss
A smooth and interestingly creamy minty taste that doesn’t come across as super punchy like other mint-tasting gums. It only falls on the “somewhat” refreshing side solely because it’s minty. To me, it doesn’t seem like it’s trying to freshen your breath; it’s more sugary and creamy than that. At the same time, there is a slight peculiarity to it–a mild artificial, almost off-putting note, though I’m not quite sure where it’s coming from and what it is.
Anyway, I love that it lasts so long without the flavor dying off.
Ice Breakers Ice Cubes Kiwi Watermelon
These are pale white, round, cube-shaped pieces of gum with a few large red and green specks. In terms of taste, you’re immediately hit with a very smooth, mildly to moderately sweet kiwi-watermelon mix. It’s definitely not as hard-hitting as other Ice Breakers gums or other gums in general. This comes across as much more inoffensive, with a balanced kiwi-and-watermelon flavor. However, much of the flavor quickly fades–it’s still sort of there, but only somewhat.
Trident Vibes Peppermint Rush
A mostly smooth, pale blue, roundish piece of gum. The initial flavor is a peppermint taste that could likely be mistaken for a slightly sharper or different type of mint. It’s not overly punchy and doesn’t overwhelm you with a bursting flavor, though it’s clearly there. Notably, it does not taste like a candy cane, if you’re wondering. It’s moderately sweet overall and is refreshing. The flavor as a whole does remain for some time and doesn’t taper off much from the initial start.
Ice Breakers Wild Berry to Cool Mint Shifters
As the package shows, these are round-square, pale-white cubes with dark-colored specks. In terms of taste, you’re immediately hit with a moderately sweet, smooth, generic berry-like flavor with the slightest hint of mint. Honestly, it’s a pretty good and interesting combination. After just a minute of chewing, however, the cool-flavored mint starts to come through more, and over a short period of time, it starts to take over completely. This mint becomes a little punchy over time and has a decent, refreshing, and cool flavor overall. Of course, after a thorough chewing, the gum starts to lose the mint flavor, but it still remains to a sufficient degree.
Ice Breakers Raspberry Sorbet Ice Cubes
Large dark red specs embed this white, round-square piece of gum. Taste-wise, it’s an immediate hit of a moderately sweet, smooth raspberry. Not too sweet, not too unsweet.
Sorbet? I’m not sure, but it is somewhat creamy and tames down any notion of raspberry punchiness. At the same time, it’s not entirely raspberry either; there is something else there that I can’t pinpoint. Lastly, the flavor lasts some time, but could last longer.
Wrigley’s Extra Polar Ice
These are long white strips of gum with faded bright blue dots. They smell strongly minty, but biting into them, they’re much smoother and tamer. It’s moderately sweet, especially after a minute or two, and the flavor is lightly punchy and minty-like minty-like. Definitely not an icy or cool mint flavor by any means, instead leaning towards a smooth, minty sweetness. Lastly, the flavor lasts a long time without losing much of its intensity.
Trident Tropical Twist
This light orange colored, sugar dusted gum is smooth, mild to moderately sweet sugary tropical-like flavor. It’s not punchy by any means and all of its flavors are well balanced and overall, it comes across as very inoffensive. In that way, it’s kind of boring and I’d personally prefer something more punchy or even a little more sweet. As t the very least, the flavor lasts for sometime time from start to finish where interestingly, the flavor doesn’t change much–it doesn’t start strong nor does it really die down.
Trident Spearmint
A mild to moderately sweet spearmint-like flavor encapsulates these green pieces of gum. The first few chews are pleasant but for whatever reason, something about it becomes slightly off-putting. It’s almost like an artificial spice. Nonetheless, it’s still a decently refreshing flavor, and I like how it lasts for quite a while from start to finish. It doesn’t hit you with anything strong initially, instead, provides a constant flavor throughout the entire experience.
To note, this flavor is slightly better than Mint Bliss as it’s a hint less artificial, and slightly more sweet and has an overall more pleasant flavor profile.
C Tier
Mentos Tropical
These white, round pieces of gum immediately hit you with a strong, punchy, sweet orange-leaning tropical flavor. While the initial hit and the first few brief minutes are a strong, tasty treat, they quickly lose a lot of that strong flavor, leaving only a bit left, losing their punchiness, and overall, a lot to be desired.
Wrigley’s Extra Pink Lemonade
A uniformly white piece of gum with a strong pink lemonade-like smell. Taste-wise, it goes from a mildly sweet, pink lemonade-like flavor to a slightly sweeter version. It’s not precisely pink lemonade, more so some variant of it. The flavor isn’t super pronounced either, and instead the gum as a whole leans a little more toward the sugary-sweet side; granted, it’s not very sweet either.
Overall, I feel it’s a lightly flavored sugary pink lemonade taste with a sufficient amount of sugar that lasts a good while. I do wish the pink lemonade and general sweetness were stronger because as it is now it’s just a bit too mild.
Wrigley’s Extra Sours Blue Raspberry
These are a light sky blue color with a dusting of white powder. In terms of taste, it’s a bit weak immediately, but quickly starts to sweeten. It has a mild blue raspberry flavor, though the sourness is really slacking. The sourness is sort of there, but this gum really falls on a moderately sweet blue raspberry flavor. Honestly, this needs both more sweetness and sourness because it’s pretty plain overall, though I appreciate the unique blue raspberry flavor.
Trident X Splash Yerbabuena
This isn’t much of a show off. In fact, it’s pretty standard, though I didn’t find it as punchy or harsh as other similar brands. To me, this has a smoother, toothpaste-like taste rather than “it’s going to freshen your mouth with super harsh chemicals.” Not bad, and it’s quite refreshing and pleasant overall.
