A review and ranking of Ryse protein powders. Flavors included are Frozen Lemonade, Shaq’s Berry, Pineapple Mango, White Behemoth, Green Behemoth, Island Cooler, and Red Alert.
Overall Review & Verdict
Nutricost has a number of tasty flavored creatines. They’re all of the same consistency: thick and powdery, and they mix very easily in any liquid. In addition, they’re some of the cheapest brands around, and the overall quality appears sufficient.
I’d definitely recommend this brand. Below is a tier list of the flavors I’ve tried, from best to worst.
Flavor Ranking
1. Frozen Lemonade
Exactly as advertised. This is a moderately sweet, sugary lemonade, something you might find in a literal frozen lemonade during summer. Don’t expect anything punchy or sour here; it’s simply a smoother, sweeter lemon flavor. And honestly, as someone who does appreciate a punchy lemon, I can get behind this. Simply put, it’s a tasty lemon flavor that would appeal to many people.
2. Shaq’s Berry
It’s smooth and sweet, with citrus and berry flavors. The two pair well, and nothing feels punchy, as if the berry tames the citrus. What you ultimately get is something on the sweeter side and an equal combo of generic berry and tropical sugary citrus vibes.
3. Coastal Explosion
It makes your drink a sewage green, so cool! The flavor is mildly sweet, light, almost smooth, sugary citrus-y lime? Overall, it is refreshing and unoffensive.
4. Pineapple Mango
Tropical for sure, though, I’m surprised it isn’t as sweet as I’d thought it would be. It’s sweet enough and, overall, a fairly pleasant combination of both flavors. It isn’t sour or punchy by any means; it’s more of a sugar-based pineapple-and-mango flavor profile.
5. Red Alert
As advertised, it’s a slightly punchy citrus flavor with an almost equal amount of cherry flavor. It’s an interesting combination, like, I don’t expect the two flavors to go together, but here, they kind of do, providing a both sweet and punchy combination.
6. White Behemoth
Both White Behemoth and Green Behemoth have very similar flavor profiles: a mild-to-moderate generic citrus flavor. In a way, they remind me of a sugary, citrusy energy drink flavor profile. Neither is too punchy. White Behemoth is slightly smoother and comes across as a smidge more pleasant, while green has a slightly more pronounced citrus note. Again, neither citrus variant is overly pronounced, though if you really wanted something ever so slightly punchier, go for the Green Behemoth.

8. Island Cooler
Island Cooler is such a “cool” name. Anyway, it’s light and smooth, and less sweet than others, sporting an almost typical punch-bowl flavor but less punchy and less sweet. It’s good, and definitely something most people would enjoy. It comes across as a mostly generic, “Islandy” mix of fruits and berries. Nothing punchy, nothing artificial, just plain sugary fruit and berry flavor. There’s definitely a mix of flavors, and unfortunately, I can’t quite make out what they are. Maybe some mix of coconut, mango, strawberry, and others? I’m not sure.
