Review
Two of the best-tasting candy bars made into ice cream?! Here is my review of both!
Doing what the lid says: Wait 5 minutes…
Okay, done.
To dig through the Kinder Ice Cream, you have to punch through a thick, very dark-looking chocolate top, which reveals the milk chocolate-appearing ice cream. Further, there are chocolate swirls throughout the ice cream itself. Needless to say, this ice cream looks loaded!
So, this is Nutella, literally, in ice cream form. The flavor profile and sweetness depict it perfectly; it’s almost confusing—am I spooning Nutella or ice cream? Wait, it’s both. The ice cream part nails it, and with the generous chocolate shell pieces on top of the chocolate swirls already there—wow, this is amazing.
The taste isn’t the only thing that’s perfect. The composition and the overall eating experience are two of the most unique I’ve had in an ice cream. It’s nuanced: thick, but fluffy. Dense, yet light. It feels like they mixed thick ice cream into a mousse. Then on top of all that (or the middle? Or everywhere? It’s everywhere!), the chocolate shell blends right in, providing a thick, soft, light crunch to it all.
Overall, one of the best ice creams I’ve had, and I’d score it a 9/10.
The Bueno Ice Cream features a similar hard-shelled top, except with a dark chocolate drizzle; notably, the chocolate shell is much lighter in color than its Nutella version brother, resembling a caramel-like milk chocolate. Breaking through the shell reveals something of a similar appearance, though even lighter. Aside from the shell, chocolate and solidified, softer-looking caramel-chunky bits are mixed throughout the ice cream.
Taste-wise, honestly, if you put this in front of me while I was blindfolded, I would have guessed it was simply a good, creamy milk chocolate, hazelnut-based ice cream with something else added. A slight toasty-ish flavor? I’m not sure, as the chocolate and hazelnut come out as the primary flavor, and whatever else is present doesn’t make as grand an entrance.
Does it scream Bueno? Honestly, it’s pretty darn close in terms of flavor (which I’ll get to later)—perhaps 90% there! If anything, I would say that a Bueno chocolate bar has chocolate that is ever so slightly darker. In addition, this ice cream relies on a harder, chocolate-like bark for its texture rather than a soft wafer. Lastly, the sweetness level matches a Bueno perfectly.
Interestingly, the texture and mouthfeel are different than the Nutella Ice Cream version; in fact, I’d say this is pretty boring. This feels much less creamy and softer. It resembles more of a traditional, slightly above-average creaminess ice cream—nothing to write home about here. Another thing to note: while the shell, cookie, and caramel-looking, softer bits inside are a nice enough addition to the contrast, they still don’t match the nuance of a soft, wafer-and-cream-filled Bueno bar.
Overall, it’s a close enough rendition of a Bueno chocolate bar, at least, in terms of flavor that can likely be produced, and you’ll absolutely be happy if you buy this ice cream version. Unfortunately, given its composition, it misses some important parts, thus failing to deliver the full Bueno bar experience. Overall, I prefer the Nutella Ice Cream version and would rate this Ferrero ice cream a 7.75/10.
For both of these ice creams: Some reports indicate an official release on May 13, 2026, for the Nutella Ice Cream, and as early as December 2025 for the Bueno flavor. Reviews are also scattered, with some reviews dating back between 2024 and early 2025. Found at Stop & Shop mid-May 2026.
