Scoring & Verdict

Calbee Asian Style Spicy Hot Pot Chips

Score: 4 / 10

Review

Initially, this has a sharp taste with a light black-peppery kick. I can’t even tell if it’s specifically Asian-based seasoning, let alone hot pot, though it’s clear some type of flavoring was added. However, upon eating more, I notice the sharpness increases by quite a bit and lingers, and frankly, it becomes very unpleasant. It’s akin to trying raw cinnamon or another harsh seasoning and leaving it on your tongue. Yuck!

Taste aside, it’s your standard crunchy thin chip for the most part. They feel a little more premium overall. Some of the seasoning dust also sticks to your hands.

Release Date

Released around late 2025. Found at Ocean State Job Lot late March 2026.

Belgian Gold Sundae Cone Bottoms Mini Filled Hazelnut Waffle Cones

Score: 7.25 / 10

Review

First off, I’m not sure why they dub these “Sundae Cone Bottoms,” because at the bottom of these filled waffle cones, it’s the same as what you see at the top: it’s a soft, solid ganache-like chocolate. And indeed, the flavor is just that, tasting like a moderately sweet, cheaper milk chocolate. Not bad, though nothing stands out aside from it trying to lend itself a more sugary-sweet flavor — yeah, these are fairly sweet, but the lack of good chocolate does hinder it somewhat.

Unfortunately, I don’t really get any hazelnut, and if you blindfolded me, I would definitely say this is regular milk chocolate from a cheaper brand. Not that the chocolate is bad, it’s just clearly not premium or anything like that. That aside, the waffle cone itself offers a soft crunch contrast to the filling and a very, very light waffle taste, though in my opinion, it could be stronger and more pronounced.

Overall, these taste on the cheaper side of waffle cones, and the hazelnut flavor is not well represented. The sweetness is good, though!

Koikeya Karamucho Corn Snacks Spicy Curry

Score: 5.75 / 10

Review

The vibe here is definitely a Cheeto. From the texture to the mouthfeel, it reminds me of one. It even has that noticeable, underlying corn flavor! However, the primary taste is definitely not cheesy; instead, it is a mildly spicy seasoning: an equal portion of corn and curry. They’re really not that strongly flavored, which I found nice, but if you’re looking for something like an actual Cheeto-flavored treat or a spicy curry, it’s not here.

Glico Coconut Pocky

Score: 6.5 / 10

Review

Unlike many other boring, smooth-looking Pocky, this has not just a dipped coating but also embedded coconut pieces!

The flavor of these is so smooth and pleasant, despite their attempt to be a sweet-based treat. The coconut is light and in balance with the milk chocolate. Combined with the biscuit, it’s a mildly sweet, authentic, sugary-based chocolate-coconut flavor. Additionally, the texture is nice with those little crunchy coconut bits.

Overall, it’s still pretty airy and soft, and those bits inside the shell add a nice contrast to the biscuit, providing a load of nuanced textures when you bite in

Palmer Candy Mini Sandwich Easter Cookies

Score: 7.5 / 10

Review

These are definitely much smaller than I imagined! They’re quite colorful, though, sporting pastel Easter colors, although the drizzle isn’t as clean-cut-looking as on the package.

I’m going to assume the yellow one is lemon, the birthday cake one is blue, and the pink one is strawberry.

The yellow one is clearly a candy lemon flavor, but not in an artificial way. It’s not punchy whatsoever; it’s simply sugary sweet. They added a good amount of sugar to really bring out the lemon and make it feel like you want to keep eating them! Even those who dislike lemon could enjoy this, especially if they prefer something sweeter.

Similarly, the pink one is strawberry-flavored and has a similar sweetness level to lemon. In fact, they simply seemed to replace the lemon flavor with a sugary strawberry. It’s very smooth, creamy, and very sugary.

I was right about the blue one, which was sort of birthday-cake-flavored–sort of. It’s a sweet vanilla with a suggestion of birthday cake. It’s clearly not straight vanilla; there’s definitely a birthday cake flavor there, but don’t expect something precisely birthday cake either. It’s pretty sweet!

Palmer candy usually has off-tasting chocolates to me, but these were really tasty, sweet, and very enjoyable, especially for a sweet treat. Lastly, in terms of composition, there’s a thin layer in the middle, sandwiched between two lightly crunchy sandwich cookies. They don’t feel super cheap overall, especially with the smooth, slightly soft shell that provides some contrast. Essentially, these cookies taste much more premium than they let on.

Dum Dums Dragon Fruit

Score: 5 / 10

Review

This tastes simply like a cheap, very, very mildly sugary-tasting, regular lollipop. Maybe, just maybe, a hint of some berry or fruit, but really, even the sugar is lacking. Simply put, very little flavor with a cheap, waxy mouth feel that tastes similar to many of its Dum Dums counterparts.

Nice! Walgreens Sprinkle Mini Cones

Score: 7.5 / 10

Review

First off, I love how loaded these cones are. The filling goes all the way up to the top, and it’s very thick. However, it’s quite solid, and while it’s softer than the waffle cone, it isn’t by much. Or perhaps the cone itself could be crunchier—I’m not sure. Lastly, the sprinkles are a nice touch in terms of appearance, although they’re already so soft that they blend right in.

Flavor-wise, it’s pure, fairly sweet vanilla. No off tastes or weirdness—just plain, sweet vanilla. It’s pleasant, and combined with the ample amount of sugar, it makes for a nice, tasty, generic vanilla.

Overall, I like the flavor and wish there were more nuance in the composition. It’s simply a bit too soft for me, and definitely softer than many other waffle-filled cones. Crunchier shell, please!

Release Date

Released around late 2023 with a chocolate version. Found at Walgreens in early April 2026.

Sparkling Ice Life Savers Wild Cherry and Pineapple

Score: 6 / 10 (each)

Review

I love Sparkling Ice. Their drinks are always so sweet and crispy, and feel well above average compared to your more typical, boring, and bland seltzer-based waters.

Wild Cherry has a smooth, mild to moderately sugary sweet cherry flavor. It’s actually surprisingly not as sweet as I thought it’d be; instead, it relies on its smoothness, if that makes sense. The cherry is nice, not at all punchy, and while it’s clearly artificial, it is unoffensive. Does it taste like a Life Savers candy? I can see it, although I think this drink itself is a tad sweeter!

Pineapple has a tropical, sugary vibe. It’s about the same sweetness as Wild Cherry, instead having a pineapple-like taste. I say “pineapple-like” because while it does lean towards that, I don’t think I’d recognize it without explicitly reading the bottle. It almost feels like it’s pineapple with something else, or perhaps it’s just me. Either way, like Wild Cherry, it’s smooth and doesn’t come across as overly sweet or punchy.

In my opinion, I wish these were a little sweeter. Then again, Life Savers aren’t necessarily super sweet, so scratch that from the record… anyway, these drinks are pretty good overall and resemble Life Saver-like candy flavors in seltzer form.

Release Date

Released February 2026, amongst other flavors. Found at Shaw’s early April 2026.
