A compilation of reviews of Harry Potter Butterbeer flavored snacks, treats, foods, and more to find the best and worst tasting of them all!
Butterbeer, from my experience, is some mix of caramel, butterscotch, and sugar. It often comes across as more subtle and less sweet than just caramel, and not as bold or overpowering as butterscotch. It feels like something in between, a flavor that is less sweet overall and smoother and creamier.

In terms of its flavor profile, it gives strong kettle corn vibes but is less sweet. The taste itself is similar; perhaps there is instead a suggestion of brown sugar too. You can also definitely taste some type of sugary caramel and/or light butterscotch, which works well with the brown sugar. It’s a tasty combination, especially since this popcorn is fairly sweet, even compared to those loaded or drizzle-based popcorns you find elsewhere. Still, not as sweet or strong as something you’d find in a tin labeled “kettle corn” on Christmas day.
There is also some seasoning visible across the popcorn, though it doesn’t coat your hands in a messy or meaningful way. It lends the popcorn a slightly darker yellow and orange color. Lastly, it’s mildly crunchy and soft; just right for bagged popcorn.
Overall, if you like kettle corn or sweet popcorn, this should be on your radar!

To me, these taste mostly like regular peeps. They’re sugary-sweet with a hint of what seems to be caramel. That’s essentially it. My only con is that their sugar flavor and sweetness dominate, leaving me wanting more butterbeer.

Chewy Candy
Score: 7.25 / 10

Review
What an interesting texture! It’s like a gummy and a soft candy had a kid. Basically, it’s a gummy, but softer, easier to bite through, and less hard overall.
So, sure, the texture is different and, in my opinion, pretty neat; the flavor is very meh. Unfortunately, like most gummies, these have a rather dull flavor. There’s a caramel, butterscotch-like taste, but it’s fairly light, and additionally, the lack of sweetness doesn’t help it either. Overall, these need more sugar and/or bolder flavors. At least the shapes are kind of cool!

Bar
Score: 7.25 / 10

I love the design! It’s a chocolate bar, and each piece resembles a small barrel. Breaking a piece off, the barrel reveals a thin layer of soft-solid frosting goo; it tastes like a creamy butterscotch, and with the sweet milk chocolate bar, it’s a great combination.
The flavor profile, overall, is still milk chocolate, as that’s the bulk of it; in fact, the texture and taste resemble a Hershey’s bar with a background of butterscotch from the inner filling.

Released in October 2022 alongside other Butterbeer products. Found at Five Below, April 2025.

These look like butterscotch: pale, orangish-yellow. Taste-wise, it’s exactly that: pure, creamy butterscotch. It lands on the sweeter side, which really brings out the bold butterscotch flavor. There’s a white, creamy center, but I didn’t notice it adding much, since the butterscotch (or butterbeer?) flavor overpowers it.

Goldfish
Score: 6.25 / 10

Review
These are perhaps the sweetest goldfish I’ve had. Don’t get me wrong, though; it’s not unbearably sweet; it’s just a lot sweeter than other goldfish. It has a biscuity crunch and a seasoning that coats your hands. The flavor is mostly sweet and tastes light, having a combination of butterscotch and caramel.
Release Date
Officially released in early March 2025; however, reviewers have noted finding them in February. Found at Stop & Shop in March 2025.

Review
Opening these up, there is a noticeably sweet butterscotch and caramel-like smell. The taste is just that, too; it’s all quite light but sweet enough to enjoy for those who have a sweet tooth.
The texture of these is a soft-crunch, and they are on the thinner side. As someone who doesn’t like crunchy cookies and prefers chewy ones, I found the composition of these to be good! It’s like they were trying to combine chewy and super crunchy, and in the end, they did a good job!

Released February 2025, limited edition. Found at Walmart in March 2025.
