Guava & Cream Cheese Stuffed Puff Pastry

These Guava & Cream Cheese Stuffed Puff Pastries are a flaky, golden treat filled with sweet guava paste and creamy cheese. Easy to make with store-bought puff pastry, they bake up perfectly for breakfast, dessert, or a sweet snack. The combination of tropical fruit and rich cream cheese makes for an irresistible pastry that’s ready quickly.

Equipment

  • parchment paper
  • baking sheet or air fryer
  • dough/pin roller

Ingredients

  • 8 oz guava paste
  • 4 oz cream cheese not spread
  • 16-18 oz puff pastry sheets or similar
  • powdered or granulated sugar optional
  • flour for stretching dough

Instructions

  • Ensure the puff pastry is at room temperature.
  • Spread some flour onto a surface and line the pastry sheets on it. Using the pin roller, spread out the dough. They need to be somewhat flat, although it isn’t fully required.
  • Cut the dough into ~4×4 inch slices or however large you want them.
  • Add a small piece of guava paste and cream cheese near the end, and gently roll and seal the dough. This is flexible, as most shapes will work fine!
  • Add the finished pastries to a parchment-lined baking sheet or parchment-lined air fryer. Bake at 380°F for around 15 minutes or until the edges start to brown. Don’t worry if the pastry on the inside is a little underdone, as it compliments the texture.
  • Take out the pastries and dust them with sugar. Then, let cool for 30-60 minutes.
  • These can be stored for up to a day at room temperature.

Notes

Like any puff pastry, the inside can be anything! I’ve also done this with fillings involving Nutella, Oreo, candy, and more.
