This snack review has Zombie Takis, Hostess Ding Dongs Popcorn, Trader Joe’s Ube Mochi Pancake & Waffle Mix, Milka Yoghurt Chocolate Bar, and TooGoodGourmet Blondie Batter Cookies.
I still can’t believe how bad those Trader Joe’s pancakes were… but anyway, this snack haul was mostly unimpressive. All of the snacks at least sounded interesting though none really turned out as impressive as they looked. If I had to choose, I’d likely go with the Hostess Ding Dongs Flavored Popcorn as my favorite here. Popcorn is so easy to eat and when you add chocolate, it just becomes so much better.
Zombie Flavored Takis
Score: 5.5 / 10
I love spicy food and spicy chips and these definitely hit those notes. It’s more spicy than your average spicy chips and it does linger for a good amount of time. There’s also an interesting flavor that is paired with it although I’m not sure exactly what it is. Lime and something else? I’m not sure. Anyway, I do wish the spicy was toned down a little to make room for more flavor.
Released 2017 in early fall to celebrate Halloween. Some report they were discontinued around 2019 while the company claims they’ve always been around. Whatever the case, all outlets do seem to agree these have been a fan and social media favorite, as well as being back for the 2023 season.
Hostess Ding Dongs Flavored Popcorn
Score: 6.5 / 10
Nice crunch and a good, mildly sweet chocolate. As advertised, this chocolate tastes just like Ding Dong chocolate although the creme part of the Dong is missing. Basically, a chocolatey covered popcorn
Released around July 2023 alongside a Twinkie flavored version.
Trader Joe’s Ube Mochi Pancake & Waffle Mix
Score: 3.5 / 10
Wait… these are just plain, slightly chewy pancakes. It’s even almost a bit bitter. Aside from being purple, there’s nothing really good about these.
This may have been released some time in 2020 according to early reviews. It apparently was discontinued at some point then brought back in 2022.
Milka Yoghurt Chocolate Bar
Score: 6.5 / 10
Where is any ounce of yogurt flavor here? This is a lightly sweet, milk chocolate bar with a thin white soft filling that honestly has zero flavor. The chocolate at least is creamy and pleasantly sweet.
Not sure when this was released but reviews date back to many years back. Found at Ocean State Job Lot.
TooGoodGourmet Blondie Batter Cookies
Score: 5.5 / 10
Soft, slightly chewy cookies with a vanilla cake batter blondie taste. This taste is artificial and bitter, it almost stings your mouth a bit. At the same time, they’re a bit sweet but not too much either. I’m a bit disappointed they don’t have the full cookie batter texture, it’s just kinda thin and a bit soft, it feels a bit misleading. Overall, I unexpected more out of these.
The company has been around since 1999, not sure when they released this. Found at Ocean State Job Lot.
