Reviewing Plant Based Reese’s, Zing Peanut Butter Bar, Elf Goldfish, & More

This snack review has Plant Based Reese’s, Pearson’s Cinnamon Churro Flavored Salted Nut Roll, Goldfish Limited Edition Christmas Elf Maple Syrup Grahams, Zing Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar, and GoMacro Protein Paradise Cashew Caramel MacroBar.

Plant Based Reese’s

Score: 6.5 / 10

Front package of Plant Based Reese's.

This feels and tastes like a completely different brand and snack. Compared to a regular Reese’s, these are more stiff and hard, and most of all, the taste is both a bit odd and just outright different. I can definitely see some people finding the taste off-putting, like it’s clearly a chocolate and peanut butter but something about it seems off. Nonetheless, I found it decent, although nowhere as good or sweet as a regular Reese’s.

Released March 2023. Found at a local book shop.

Pearson’s Cinnamon Churro Flavored Salted Nut Roll

Score: 6.5 / 10

Front package of Pearson's Cinnamon Churro Flavored Salted Nut Roll.

Super nutty and on the harder side, I really expected these to have a soft oat bar texture but it was quite the opposite. Even the small amount of white cream on the inside is hard. Overall, it’s decently sweet, nutty, and has a light cinnamon taste.

The original was released in 1933 during the Great Depression and the Cinnamon Churro version was apparently released alongside a Spicy version in mid 2021 as limited edition. However, at least for Cinnamon Churro, I’ve always seen them around. Found at Dollar Tree.

Goldfish Limited Edition Christmas Elf Maple Syrup Grahams

Score: 5 / 10

Front package of Goldfish Limited Edition Christmas Elf Maple Syrup Grahams.

I guess there is kind of a mapleish taste but it’s overshadowed by the Goldfish cracker taste. This needs a ton more maple syrup flavor and sweetness for this to be considered.

Released November 1st, 2023 for a limited time.

Back package of Goldfish Limited Edition Christmas Elf Maple Syrup Grahams.

Zing Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar

Score: 8 / 10

Front package of Zing Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Bar.

Firm but soft, the texture of these is great! There is a thin semi-dark chocolate shell which encases this peanut butter filling — it’s basically a big Reese’s but not as sweet with ever so slightly different flavor but it’s close! And, to be clear, despite being plant based, I couldn’t even tell!

Zing was founded in 2006. I’m not sure when they released this bar.

GoMacro Protein Paradise Cashew Caramel MacroBar

Score: 5 / 10

Front package of GoMacro MacroBar Protein Paradise Cashew Caramel.

Despite being chewy, it’s a bit hard and tough. The taste is odd. I can’t taste the cashew or caramel, it’s more of an interesting “natural” taste that isn’t that simply isn’t that tasty.

The company was founded in 2014, not sure when this specific bar was released although reviews date back to several years ago.
