Yield: Pan of Phyllo Tres Leches
Ingredients
- 3 boxes of phyllo sheets or puff pastry
- 1-2 sticks butter
- Can of sweetened condensed milk
- Can of evaporated milk
- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
*If you use 1-2 boxes of phyllo, reduce the other ingredients
Utensils
- Large mixing bowl
- 13×9 in. baking pan or similar
- Small boiling pan
Let’s Make It!
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Defrost phyllo sheets until pliable.
- Use stick of butter end to grease baking pan.
- Put together 2-3 phyllo sheets at a time and pack in pan. Repeat process until sheets are fully in pan. Poke holes throughout the pastries.
- Melt rest of butter and pour onto sheets.
- Bake for 10 minutes.
- Mix together the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, whole milk, eggs, and 1 tsp cinnamon.
- After the baking is finished, drizzle mixture onto sheets, leaving a little bit for some light drizzle at the very end.
- Resume baking for around 25-30 minutes.
- Combine sugar, water, and 1 tsp cinnamon, bring to hot/boil.
- After baking is done, drizzle this mixture and any of the other leftover mixture on top.
- Eat as is or let settle for an hour or longer.
- Store covered in fridge for up to several days.
Notes & Alternatives
- This is a variation of the recipe found on TikTok. Several slight variations exist.
- If the sheets don’t fully fit the baking pan, don’t worry, the ends may become a little soggy but their texture and taste will resemble that of flan, it’s a win-win!
